did you guys realise that in the last 3 slams in the womens draw at least one wildcard has made it to the 3rd round and they each got knocked out in the third round.

aus open: stosur

surprise surprise they all have big serves.

did pierce get a wildcard into the french open last year? if so then in the last 4 slams a wildcard has reached at least the 3rd round, pierce making the quarters.

Big servers, when their serve is on, can cut a swathe through quite a number of higher-ranked players. We can look also at Alex Stevenson, Alicia molik and Mirjana Lucic at other Grand Slams.

Another interesting fact is that a lot of these players are from the Home country.

besides that semi-final at wimbledon i don't think stevenson has got past the 2nd round at a grand slam.
