Chanda Rubin, Alex Stevenson and Meghan Shaunessy are all outside of the top ten at the moment. Will Chanda and Meghan make it back to the top ten or will Alex finally break through??

I have faith once Alex gets an attitude adjustment, she make it to the top ten!

Chanda will in a few weeks.
I doubt that Alex and Meghann ever will again.

alex and chanda have the talent to be consistent top 10er's but chanda is injury prone and alex is inconsistent. meghan's chance was in 2001 when she got to #11. the top 20 and top 15 are so good these days that meghan can't really copete with them unless her serve is really really on and that isn't often enough to be up there with the best.

i think bielik from what i saw at the us open has all the weapons but she has to put them together but she is ranked in the 240's plus she is having trouble in the itf level so i don't know what the hope is for her.

chanda has already made the top ten. she doesn't count for this discussion.

I agree.

Chanda and Alexandra have the game to be top 10, it's just whether they can pull it off. I think Chanda will get back in there in a few weeks.

Alexandra?? Well, as soon as she gets fit, consistent, and a new coach she will definitely be there.

Meghann, I just don't think her game is good enough for the top 10, top 20 definitely though.

Didn't Meghann top out at 11 before?

Anyhow, the next American to enter the top 10 will either be Chanda, or Monica after a possible absence of several weeks.

Yeah, Meghann's highest ranking was at #11, couldn't quite break the top 10.

It seems to be the curse of the 11th rank. Chanda nearly reached it before getting injured, and Meghann fell off the race for the top 10. Both seem to being doing well this year. Both I think have the games to be there. :bounce:

in order

Chanda (most likely by RG)
Meg (maybe, but would be tough)
Alex (I'd be surprised considering that to be there you have to be able to play on all surfaces. Alex doesn't like RA and clay... It's almost half of the season)

I'm sure Chanda will kick Dokic out of Top10!!!

seles will drop to #10 because she won last year and lost first round. myskina is only about 100 points away from passing seles so if she beats dinara then #10 could be hers next week.

so i don't think rubin will knock dokic out. i think if seles drops but then gets back in then chanda could take monica out but otherwise she would take out myskina.

So there is a huge drop off of American tennis talent on the women's side once we get past Alex?? There's got to be some up-- and -comers that can break through!!

Chanda might, Alex, and Meghan will never go to top 10!

bielik has shown talent but she is 22 or 23 and she is having a hard time getting use to the tour.

Ummm... having 16 Americans (8 or 9 below Alex) in the Top 100 is pretty damn good.

yeah 16 in the top 100 is pretty good considering most of them ae in the top 50 (top 15:venus, serena, capriati, davenport, monica, chanda) (top 50: stevenson, raymond, shaughnessy, frazier, granville) (top 100: craybas, irvin, taylor, tu and harkleroad)

but i there aren;t many young players up and comiing.

harkleraod is the youngest with the highest ranked. then there is rao at #175 who is making some good progress. players to watch are baker, avants and robinson but no one expects them to be in the top 10.

i'd like to see some of them in the top 10 but not many people believe they can get there.
