Oscar - Best DirectorAjdeNate! Feb 11th, 2003, 01:24 PM Wow,.... they gave Polanski a nod anyway. A bit surprised. anabel Feb 11th, 2003, 01:32 PM Peeeeeeeeedroooooooo wongqks Feb 11th, 2003, 01:33 PM Martin Scorsese, but then again if Chicago is to win best picture, they have to give a big prize somewhere before they hand thenm a best pic win, so maybe Rob Marshall Martin is said to be fav to win coz he has not win at all before, but remeber last year robert altman ? Beat Feb 11th, 2003, 01:39 PM i won't vote for who i think will win, but for who i think SHOULD win: pedro almodovar Iconoclast Feb 11th, 2003, 02:04 PM They snubbed Peter Jackson. Last year the film received both a Best Film and Best Director nomination. This year only the latter. Next year, probably zilch. I guess 'Bad Taste' and 'Braindead' are still haunting his reputation. Really a shame, cause if you get past the 10,000 liters of blood and other bodily fluids, they are excellent films. Iconoclast Feb 11th, 2003, 02:09 PM Haven't seen 'The Hours', but I thought Daldry did an excellent job with 'Billy Elliot', which won him an Academy Award nomination two years ago, even though it gets some deductions for originality because of its resemblance with 'Brassed Off'. nasty nick#2 Feb 11th, 2003, 02:10 PM scorsese  schris Feb 11th, 2003, 03:50 PM Roman Polanski - The Pianist ;) Barrie_Dude Feb 11th, 2003, 05:36 PM Please, Please, Please Roman Polanski! King Aaron Feb 11th, 2003, 05:40 PM I can't believe Peter Jackson didn't get a nod Pedro :) Jakub Feb 11th, 2003, 05:47 PM Roman Polanski - The Pianist I saw that movie and I was really amazed . Polański deserved an Oscar . Hurley Feb 11th, 2003, 07:27 PM I guess Scorsese wins this. "Gangs" has Academy support after all. LucasArg Feb 12th, 2003, 06:15 AM I hope Pedro Almodovar wins it, but I think Scorsese is the choosen this year. LucasArg Feb 12th, 2003, 06:17 AM Just a question, Will Roman Polanski go to the ceremony? spiceboy Feb 12th, 2003, 09:09 AM I doubt it (for his sake) Go Pedro!!! Scorsese's film is not his best by far... MS Feb 12th, 2003, 09:19 AM Pedrooooooooooooooooo!! ;) Beat Feb 12th, 2003, 09:32 AM Originally posted by LucasArg Just a question, Will Roman Polanski go to the ceremony? he would still get arrested, wouldn't he? ~ The Leopard ~ Feb 12th, 2003, 10:22 AM From what I've seen so far, I'm backing Scorsese. I was a bit disappointed with Talk to Her, since I'm an Almodovar fan...but found that the movie just didn't do it for me. Barrie_Dude Feb 12th, 2003, 01:56 PM Originally posted by Beat he would still get arrested, wouldn't he? After all these years, I don't see any justifiable reason for it, though, the D.A. in L.A. is a real dipwad! Bероника Feb 12th, 2003, 03:03 PM Vamos Pedro!!!!! billybizar Feb 13th, 2003, 09:29 AM According to Belgian teletext source, Polanski is not coming. I hope Scorsese will FINALLY win. Unbelievable such a talented guy never got any Oscar. To paraphrase the great Colin Powell: inexcusable! Barrie_Dude Feb 13th, 2003, 02:55 PM I would be suprised if Polanski did show up........ But it would be great to have him back in Hollywood with his legal problems cleared up! | |
