I wonder if anybody of you ever heard of her?
I saw her yesterday in Antwerp. She played doubles qualifying with Leslie Butkiewicz and she impressed me very much.
Any information about her?

Zamboni
Feb 10th, 2003, 08:21 AM
nope :o sorry

DutchieGirl
Feb 10th, 2003, 09:39 AM
I saw her in Mt. Gambier - she was also playing doubles with Leslie there but I didn't see them playing, so I don't really know much. I do know that at the end of last year she's steadliy made her way up the rankings. I don't think she's played that many MD tourneys!

Frau Antje
Feb 10th, 2003, 06:33 PM
was it a junior tournament or is she already a professional?

Brαm
Feb 10th, 2003, 06:44 PM
She's a pro, the challengers in Australia were $25,000 tournaments. She's done well the past few months, especially in doubles (with Leslie Butkiewicz ;)). Oh yeah and she also beat Leslie some months ago... :( ;)

hmm quallies 1st r Chaung beat Kilsdonk 7-5 6-3

Sandra, I think Amsterdam and another Dutch tourney are in July! Tennis Europe still only has the schedule up till end of June! pff

But sure we can go to one together, that would be nice! :D

DutchieGirl
Feb 11th, 2003, 11:36 PM

This really sucks! They moved the Dutch challengers! Last year the Amsterdam one starts 1st July! That would have been good! Now they made the earlier! pff Last year there was also a couple of German challengers in July, but I don't know if they are anymore.

DutchieGirl
Feb 11th, 2003, 11:49 PM
hehe ok last post in here for now... according to the tourney schedule on thw WTA site, there is a challenger in Belgium starting 14th July! It doesn't say where in Belgium though. That looks like the only one I'd have some possibility of going to.

Zamboni
Feb 12th, 2003, 09:55 AM
I'd like to go to a challenger too in the summer :)
(especially if you all go too ;))

DutchieGirl

Bram, as I said in that "Congratulations" thread in the BBB, dubya is gonna occupy FRA, GER, and the Walloon part of BEL as being "French sympathizers". :p Since NED is OK with da prez, complicated stuff like "Wait, Colin, what's this 'Neverlands', I thought you just said Holland" :D is beyond him, and the Flemish are "cuzzins", you're OK I guess. But don't make your summer plans just yet!

Frau Antje
Feb 12th, 2003, 07:20 PM
were are you travelling to, Bram?

Brαm
Feb 12th, 2003, 07:41 PM
Toscane, Italy :D

It's my 4th time that I'm going to Italy with my family, we all love the country. We've already been to Garda, Sicily & the xxx coast (forgot the name, it's near France & Monaco) so we've seen a lot of different places over there.
I just hope I won't have to queue too long to get on the Pisa Tower hehe ;)

DutchieGirl
Feb 12th, 2003, 11:44 PM
Oh GREAT!!! :D Bram isn't going till the 21st! That's PERFECT!!! Coz I have to go to Spain on the 19th anyway! That means we can meet Brammeke! :D

But ehh...can we leave the posts about war out of this thread thanks? It really didn't have much to do with what we were saying, and it's not what I really wanna discuss in here! This is a Dutch players forum, not a war forum! ;)

It didn't belong in a serious thread in Non-Tennis, only the 2 Benelux ones. Bram found it funny NEway! ;) Just remember, we can take Oz-stralia, too. :p Politically Obsessed Boyie :wavey:

Yeah Tim, it's Leslie Butkiewicz. She's ranked about 400 ish in singles, but is better in doubles I think. She's about 22 years old I think (could be wrong).

Kim and Leslie play Elke Clijsters and Kirsten Flipkens in the doubles qf!

very good question!!!
especially seeing the 3rd set was so close, so it's not like one of them was injuried and that really affected their play!

especially seeing the 3rd set was so close, so it's not like one of them was injuried and that really affected their play!

The second and third sets were close! A tiebreaker and then 7-5. How can you win a set 6-0 and be up 3-0 and then suddenly lose two close sets! That's so weird!

Frau Antje
Aug 11th, 2003, 06:57 PM
well, it was 6-0 3-0 then the other started playing better, then it was 4-1, at 6-5 they were two points away from the match. In the third set they were down 1-4, came back to 5-5 and at 5-6 Kim lost her service making two double faults in that game

well, after the match I asked Kim what happened and she said to me she really don't know.

my opinion: they started great. Leslie serving, return and Kim jumping into each ball whereever it was. It worked until their opponents made the first game. Then they seemed to be afraid in risking something.

DutchieGirl
Sep 12th, 2003, 02:35 PM
No, there are no challengers in Australia in January. In fact there are not many challengers anywhere in January. Because of the Aussie Open, we have already in Jan: Hopman Cup, Thalgo (well it used to be - on the Gold Coast anyway), Hobart, New Zealand has a tourney, Canberra, Sydney and then the AO. So there isn't much time to run challengers then! ;) There are some challengers in Victoria (my state) in March/April, but they are only $10k. Usually not many of the Dutch girls play them!

There were no tourneys in Australia last week, which is why Kim didn't play.

Now I'm gonna add a  because I wanted to go to Mt. Gambier, but I don't think I can, because I have no money, and my only two days off are Monday and Thursday. It's 5.5 hours drive from here to Mt. As a special request from Frau Antje, I took some photos of Kim at Redbridge today, during her & Claire Curran's comfortable 6-2, 6-4 semi-final victory today. However, since they didn't put seats out beside the court (which they did last year) you had to watch from the viewing gallery, which isn't as good for taking photos.

This is the only photo which turned out okay, it's a side view of Kim. Hopefully I should get a better one tomorrow, especially if they win, in which case there'll be a presentation.
