No Aiko Nakamura!
She did not enter originally, but flew to Hyderabad on Tuesday in case there were any openings in the qualifying draw. No such luck. Had she entered originally, she would have made it in easily. :(

Very disappointing not to see Sonal, Radhika, etc.
Like Aiko, they would have made the cutoffs had they entered. That's why it's so important to take chances like these, you never know how many opportunities you may miss...

Keiko Tameishi is smart to come & play here. 1 point guaranteed. ;)

Good luck to Sunitha Rao, Maria Kirilenko and Trudi Musgrave :)

pfff...in such an easy draw, Trudi manages to draw one of the toughest players :(

Disappointed more Aussies aren't here :( Sometimes I wonder if they really know how to plan their schedule

There is no one at the tournament site browsing this website who could give some result  . Even a player would make do ;) .

Shine On Silver Moon
Feb 1st, 2003, 08:31 AM
The players in qualifying are ranging from WTA 143 all the way to no ranking like Isha Lakhani...

It is a surprise that Isha has no ranking...Really?

Who is number one player in India now? Why did Sania Mirza get WC? I know, she is talented player an d she has good results recently...

Indonesian players like Liza Andriyani (535), Wukirasih Sawondari (681) and even Diana Julianto (749) could have come here to play...Well, Liza and Wukir have no sponsor to fund them...But Diana, she has no problem with money...

No Taiwanese, how come?

Steveg
Feb 1st, 2003, 08:33 AM
I thought that Wukir and Liza were still somehow sponsored by Martina Widjaja  .

Never thought that four Indian girls would make it to the second round. Now we will have one in the final round too, with Manisha and Isha playing each other!

What a show.

That was probably the fastest update of qualifying scores I have seen at any non-grand slam website, I guess. Pretty soon after the matches were done, they had the scores up nicely.

They promised live scores (of some sort) during the main draw matches only, and I was worried if they would just forget about the qualies. They came through. I am beginning to like the people Mahesh Bhupathi has pulled together to run the show.

What happened to the Bondarenko sisters after their first sets. They got killed after winning the first.
Keiko won a game ;). With the WTA rule changes with points and everything I guess this is nearly the last year for the bagel/near bagel girls.
And how about the showing from Isha. I didn't think she could pull that upset off. Great performance in the first round by the local girls.Lets hope it continues and into the main draw with Sania :)

I remember how tense she was last year against Chin-Bee in Hochiminh City.
