Is Iroda injured or something? Why do you expect a withdrawal?

She was planning surgery after the AO but I don't know if she's changed her mind

Yes, Iroda had joint shoulder injury at Perth against Serena Williams. She told that she will do surgery after the Australian Open. I afraid she won't playing here.

Jan 29th, 2003, 10:43 AM
If she had a shoulder injury at Perth, how was she able to almost beat Davenport at the Aus Open? And how could she serve at 194km/h ???

Jan 29th, 2003, 11:41 AM
According to usually well updated sources her shoulder gor better after Hopman cup, and she will continue to compete. Personly I am afraid the problem will come back.
But as it stands now, she will play in Hyderabad:kiss: :bounce:

This part of Iroda is it. she got shoulders like a polar bear:)

Iroda :)

She's serving so hard. I hope she don't overworked her shoulder and end up missing half a season or so.

I don't think Cho will play here. She said she would stay Seoul next week,.. and then leave for some events in US.

Good luck to Chanda, Mary, Tammy and Mi-ra~~~

Why isn't she coming here? Maybe she does not want to be called as specialist for being finalist of tier IV and V...Well, good luck in US, Cho!!! :wavey: :bounce:

Copied and pasted from a news article.

Top seed Chanda Rubin of USA has pulled out of WTA Indian Open, scheduled to begin here from Monday.
Following Rubin's pull out, Clarisa Fernandez of Argentina has been given the top billing in the $ 14,000 prize money tournament to be played at the newly built Tennis Complex at Lal Bahadur Stadium here.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, today released the draws at a simple function where organisers said Rubin has conveyed her inability to participate as she suffered an injury during the semi-final match in Japan Open.
The other players who opted out from the tournament include Yoon Jeong Cho (Korea), Jana Kandar (Germany) and Maria Elena Camerine (Italy) while the new entrants are Akiko Moringami (Japan) and Tzipora Obzilar of Israel, Tournament Director, Krishna Bhupati said.
Qualifying matches would be held later in the evening to complete the final list of 32 players for the singles and the doubles pairing would be released later, he said.

So, if Rubin is out, which player will receive a WC? Please let it be an Indian!!!

Anyway, if Naidu released the draw, is it available?

Feb 1st, 2003, 11:46 AM
No new WC. I belive a lucky loser from the qualies will get the now available slot.
