I think this must be the most repeatedly talked about suggestion on this board :)

Wood has already existed I think in the 70's the most. I don't know why they stopped playing on it.

Last time, I suggested the moom, puts a new spin on moon balls  ;)

Actually I remember that I have seen an old picture of people playing tennis on ice - probably from the 19th century.

I think ice is a possibility, if the game is played on skates. There have to be though some rules corrections, such as:

1) Game needs to be slowed down. Raise the net at least another feet.

2) There will hae to be, probably, special balls (with rubber shell ), or balls will have to be changes every couple of games or so, because they would absorbe water very quickly.

velcro :)

Imagine

Ace 15-0
Ace 30-0
Ace 40-0
Ace game

I think Michelle Kwan will change her career if it will be played in Ice.

yes!! Ice is the answer

and the players should have skates of course, and there also should be huge pinball like flippers at each end of the net, that is triggered if the ball hits it

that should make some interesting net play, especially in doubles which is boring as shit

can yuo imagine Renne Stubbs playing a delicate drop shot that she misjudges, and WHAMMMMMMMMM! the pinball flipper sends her sailing into the crowd

now THAT would boost TV ratings!

troof!

On a landmine field???

On the moon's sand???

On a cloud???

On the ocean's floor???

Or ... on tarmac on the top of very high building, with the lines being the edges of the building ... The ballboys having to use a window cleaner thing ... The public in helicopters ... The judge and linejudge hanging from ropes from the helicopter .... And between the games, the players get picked up by another heli and fly around the city untill time's up ... Great idea for to refresh the US Open, isn't it?

well i for one am in favor with the ice... who says tennis is only limited to just power of the slam, let those girls show more than just their hard inside, show grace as they do thier tripple axle backhand and still come down with the perfect cross court landing..

hehehehe

Bring on the pain
