With Amelie not playing and Dani eliminated today, I'm not going to get too excited about the rest, just enjoy some good tennis. The Venus/Dani match was a bit like the final for me. I'd kinda like to see Venus win the tournament, y'know, just coz it's awhile since she's got a victory over li'l sis. Williams vs Williams would be kind of funny after how much they hyped up the Belgians. An all Belgian final would be interesting just to see who really cares. The general public, and the sports writers really didn't get too excited in their previous grand slam meetings. Myskina vs Venus or Justine would be interesting just to see how people react about seeing a non-William/Belgian contender in the final. It would be great History making for either especially serena and her quest for a Serena Slam. Also give commentators a slap in the face for all who questioned Venus' preparation for this tournament. I really want Justine to win something before too long, She is really talented. but my heart is going outto Venus too just cus everybody has basically ignored just how competitive and great a player she is. How do you figure? If you would have called Alexandra Stevenson hyped up, now that I could have understood... As for an all Belgian final: of course most ppl wouldn't get too excited, that's very understandable. Most ppl - and certainly Americans - don't even know where Belgium is. It's one of the disadvantages of being a sportsman/woman of world class, but from small country: you'll never have as much fans as, say, John Nobody Doe from Nixmendalle, New Texas. But most of the Belgians, including the sport writers, would be very much excited indeed ! Btw: ppl like to pick sides, they like identify with one of the players (I know I do) - so that's one reason more why a lot of ppl wouldn't care about an all Belgian final.
