View Full Version : Alicia Molik's Injury

Jan 20th, 2003, 09:26 PM
   i was wondering if any one can tell me when Alicia is due back? The media here are pathetic, have been reading papers everyday to try and find out if it is even serious...all they said was a foot injury.

Has anyone heard anything or know if she has entered any tournaments in the next few weeks?

Many thanks

I heard she snapped her planar facia (sp?) tendon on the bottom of her foot. I suppose she'll probbaly need surgery.

Had it been Anna, it would get such indepth coverage that each medical term would be explained in great detail.

Jeez that sounds really painful, and serious, how long could one take to recover from that.

I wouldn't be so sure that it will be only 4 weeks Ausboy said that is a minimum. I have had a lot of ankle injuries and if you want them to properly heal it will take longer than the minimum estimation. She will have to do a lot of rehab to get the ankle strong again so that she doesn't just go out there in her first match and do the exact same thing again. Ofcourse Alicia could come back after 4 weeks however the risk she runs of her ankle playing up on her in the future is huge, if Alicia has smart people around her I am sure they would rather her take 8 or so weeks away from the game now to make sure her ankle gets strong again rather than run the risk of a more serious injury later or a build of scar tissue or so on

I think the aim will be to get her ready by Fed Cup (whenever that is) <g>

I saw an interview last week and Alicia is expecting it to be about 2 months

About 2 months sounds about right

This is sad.

And forget Anna, if it had been Pat or Lleyton we probably would have had the frigging surgery live on TV. No wonder the Aus women feel neglected!

hopefully shell use this time off and try and get in better shape, which i admit shes improved markedly and is one of the reasons for the new alicia of 2k2...but she can do lots of light stuff and really shed a few kilos now like Lindsay did when she was injured and come back even quicker

hoping she comes back fit, and fully ready to win another title this year
