Sania to partner Mary Pierce

Press Trust of India
NEW DELHI, Jan. 13. — India’s budding tennis talent Sania Mirza has been given a wild card entry into the doubles main draw of the $140,000 WTA tournament to be played at Hyderabad from 3 to 8 February.
Partnering the 16-year-old Sania will be two-time Grand Slam winner of France, Mary Pierce, a media release from the organisers said here today. “It is an honour to be given a chance to play alongside Pierce, one of the world’s most popular and successful players,” Sania said.
Sania has had a breakthrough season last year winning three ITF titles and the Asian Junior championship. Pierce held the record for the youngest player to make pro debut at the age of 14 years and two months, until American Jennifer Capriati broke that record in 1990. Asia’s second-ranked player, Tamarine Tanasugarn (Thailand), French Open semi-finalist Clarissa Fernandez and Asian Games champion Iroda Tulyaganova (the Ukraine) vie for the crown.

Hope Sania and Mary can reach far in the tournament. By the way, the above article only said Sania was given a wc into the doubles draw. Does this mean she didn't get a wc into the singles???
