View Full Version : Who Will Win?

who's gonna win? this should be obvious, but given injuries and doubles matches, things could get interesting.

(2)Kim Clijsters - she dropped 4 games in her opening match and 3 in her destruction of seventh seeded Chanda Rubin. she's clearly playing the best out of everybody right now, but her doubles matches will leave her completely worn out. along with singles, she played 2 doubles matches yesterday, both of which went 3 sets (one was even 3 full tiebreaks).

(3)Justine Henin-Hardenne - given her tendencies against her countrywoman, it's hard to say which justine is going to show up. the last time they played, indoors, henin got destroyed. but now, it's on hardcourt and clijsters is almost certain to be tired.

(6)Lindsay Davenport - she never really came back from her injury i guess. she looks fitter, she plays well, but she crumbles under the pressure. in her last 5 finals, she's 0-5, though one was a w/o. two of those were indoors - surprising for the supposed "queen of indoors." the win over hantuchova is sure to leave her tired, but it could be the one match she's been waiting for to pump her up.

Tatiana Panova - the surprise semifinalist, her claim to fame is taking out top seeded and third ranked Jennifer Capriati. she destroyed olga in her QF match, but will that be enough to take on davenport?

Kim only played the last set of that 7-6 6-7 7-6 win today...it was an unfinished match :)

It's hard to say.

Kim may be tired from playing such long matches, but I did read that she has been in Australia for the last month training to be in shape for this tourney, so who knows?

Justine has lost her mental edge against Kim, but she was spot on in her destruction of Husarova and managed to comeback twice in her match against Coetzer. She may be pumped up to beat Kim.

Lindsey had trouble last year closing out matches, but she managed to come back and beat Hantuchova yesterday, which is a match she may have lost last year. That match should give her confidence to make it to the final.

Tatiana may be the next in line to take over the reigns of the little assassin once Coetzer retires, but I honestly don't see her beating Lindsey.

My semifinal predictions:

Davenport vs. Panova- Davenport wins in two

Henin vs. Clijsters- Clijsters wins in three

I hope and think that Kim will win!

Against Henin in 2 sets and than against Davenport in 3 sets!

I think that the winner comes from the Belgian match ... and I hope it's Justine ... but she'll have to play better than today!

Go Justine!

I want Justine to win but will be very hard to beat Kim.
So, I think Kim will win in a very interesting final against Lindsay.

I would like Lindsay to win...but given her current form and Kim's current form, my guess is Kim will win it.

Kim but I hope she is not too exhausted after her marathon evening tonight.

Otherwise Lindsay, which would also be nice to see.

I hope Kim wins it. I think the final will be Kim/Lindsay. Lindsay is obviously a great player..however she seems to have developped a habit of letting her opponents back into matches...if she does that against Kim, I think she's finished..so I give the edge to Kim.

I really really hope it is Kimmie:angel:

thank you to everyone who voted

surprisingly, most people commented without a bias - which is great :D

i hope lindsay wins because her confidence is constantly shrinking  but i do think that kim will win still   hopefully, it will at least by 3 sets, so lindsay can feel like she accomplished something :)

btw - we're pretty good :D - 83% of people picked 1 of the 2 people in the final ;)
