So hey can I ask what ever happened, to people saying amanda coetzer only won matches by returning the ball, in the court and waiting for the error, If this is the only thing amanda uses in her game she wouldn't be beating Sugiyama, Maleeva, and now leading henin.

After all these players are some of the fastest on the tour ever, and they hit harder then coetzer, and supposely have better techniques. WEll then how does Amanda keep on winning, at 31 years old I might point out:)

I don't know if Kim played at Sydney lat year, but I think it is irrelevant because if she gets to the final, I think she has a shot to rise to number three.

Regarding when she will be in the draw, the number four seed is usually in the same half as the number one seed, which means if she is to get to the AO final, she may have to get past Serena to do so.

Actually I've just crunched the #s, and the most points Kim can gain for winning Sydney would give her a total of 3671. Jen has 3796. Regardless, Kim most likely will be #3 after Oz, unless Jen 3peats.

Because everyone has a hard time against Kim now. 10 of her last 13 opponents have won 4 games or less. 1 of them won 5 games, and the other 2 were Serena Williams.

Kim's chances of drawing Serena or Venus in the AO main draw semifinal are equal.

That some people cannot grasp that odds of being pulled are ALWAYS EQUAL REGARDLESS OF PAST RESULTS completely bothers me to no end.

If a coin is flipped 100 times and has come up heads 100 times, heads is still no more likely to come up than tails on the 101st flip. People, jeez.

That is so not true! 1 and 2 seeds are on opposite ends of the draw... 3 and 4 seeds are placed randomly to oppose 1 or 2... so it's not always 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3!

oh, and Kim did play Sydney last year - she even helped out with the funds for the bushfires! :D

Congrats to Kim! I figured going into this match that whoever won it would win the tourney. I see no reason to change that assessment.

Did anyone see the match? I was wondering if it was as one-sided as the score suggests, or if it was like their match in the Championships, where virtually every game went to at least one deuce and the match could have gone either way? Or was it somewhere in between? I know from a lot of experience that Chanda's matches tend to be closer than the scores as a rule.

I'm still shaking my head over that doubles score. They beat Davenport/Raymond, then lose that badly?

I was there and watched Evie/Myriam v Ai/Kim. Believe or not... Evie and Myriam got five match points!! :fiery:

And actually Steck/Coetzer played really well they both had very sharp volleys and just outplayed Kournikova/Rubin they deserve all the credit they played well, it wasn't that their opponents played crap

they were both playing quite horribly. i think chanda was very flat after her bad loss to kim, and kournikova was just her typical self from singles (ie not really seeming to concentrate too well, and just spraying errors, and occassionally coming up with a brilliant play. i have to admit though that coetzer and steck are a very good combination and i would not be at all surprised if they win the tournament. remember they beat raymond and stubbs at indian wells or miami.

Will we get some sort of live scores for the Davenport/Hantuchova match ?

Well can't competely agree with you.. Steck and Coetzer did play well, but Anna and Chanda can play much better..
Not sure if there isn't something wrong with Chanda, becuase in both singles and doubles she didn't hit her serve at all, not like she normally does. She still only lost her serve once in the doubles, but something didn't seem right IMO.
I would say Anna played slightly better than Chanda, but there was plenty of errors from her aswell, but she certianly can play alot better too..

I'm wondering how Rubin manages always push sisters into close 3 setters while against Kim...

cuz it's one of those A beats B, B beats C, C beats A similar type of things. Based on style of play, etc. etc. H2H's are like that.

vutt, Rubin's played two good matches against Venus and Serena ever. All the other times, it's been a one way street.
