Panova ousting Capriati!!Mattographer Jan 7th, 2003, 03:49 AM 4-6 6-4 7-5!! :bounce: TS Jan 7th, 2003, 03:50 AM Capriati hit 4 errors in that final game for Tatiana to hold at love  Jen looked bothered by the heat and just played very ordinary tennis today (I only saw the 3rd set though) DD Jan 7th, 2003, 03:52 AM Now i am panicking. i hope it doesnt continue at the AUS OPEN. i hope she doesnt course problems for the Williams Nicky2002 Jan 7th, 2003, 03:52 AM What a fast reporter! Poor Jenny. Hope you are going to do well in Me!bourne ________________________ Yeah, I love Tim "Tam" xcrtbckhnd Jan 7th, 2003, 03:53 AM Too bad Jen- WTF? I thought this would be a straight setter for Jen, but Tatiana proves again what an amazing fighter she is. Still, this is quite a surprise!!! vaiva Jan 7th, 2003, 03:53 AM Well done Tania :) JCFan Jan 7th, 2003, 03:55 AM This is something. I almost think she lost that last game on purpose. She knows the benefit of extra rest before the AO and peaking at the right time. She has proved that the last 2 years. I'm not worried. Tennisfan-Mtl Jan 7th, 2003, 03:55 AM Tatiana :D LucasArg Jan 7th, 2003, 04:00 AM Well done Panova!:wavey: tennisIlove09 Jan 7th, 2003, 04:04 AM    I'm stunned. Congrats Tatiana...regroup time Jen  Jakeev Jan 7th, 2003, 04:06 AM Lol people........don't go crying doomsday yet. Jennifer has lost the first round of Sydney three years-in-a-row now. Let's see what happens in Melbourne. Chance Jan 7th, 2003, 04:08 AM MATCH STATS Capriati / Panova 57% % First Serves In 66% 69% %First Serves won 61% 2 Aces 0 14 DF 10 9 Forehand WINNERS 3 5 Backhand Winners 6 6 Points won at net 11 39 UE 31 köj-è Jan 7th, 2003, 04:09 AM OMG!!! :D Chance Jan 7th, 2003, 04:13 AM panova kept the ball nice and deep and ran down everything, which sometimes resulted in Cappy missing the easy shot like an overhead. Cappy wasn't returning Panova's serve that well and as you can see she wasn't very consistent today. If I was a Jen fan I wouldn't be too upset, it's the AUS OPEN that counts. Congratulation Tatiana Panova on your biggest win :) Rachel Jan 7th, 2003, 05:44 AM Bugger ... :( I go to a job interview thinking all is well ;) lol Ahh well I guess .... & your right sunset, its the oz open that counts, hopefully the 3peat in all ways possible ... i'll have to 'review the tape' later ;) Jeff Jan 7th, 2003, 06:13 AM Congrats to Tatiana :D Big win for a little, yet mighty Russian ;) mauresmofan Jan 7th, 2003, 06:14 AM 14 double faults - she really must improve that serve sideout Jan 7th, 2003, 06:20 AM WTF??????????! Jen Jen, oh well, at least she can get another week of practice in before the AO! 1jackson2001 Jan 7th, 2003, 06:29 AM Well Jen, gotta do better than this at the AO if u want to defend that title! disposablehero Jan 7th, 2003, 07:49 AM If I was a Jen fan I would panic. That's 3 matches won in her last 5 tournaments. TheBoiledEgg Jan 7th, 2003, 08:29 AM Tanya :D :) and all those juicy bonus pts :D maya Jan 7th, 2003, 08:48 AM Congratulations to Tatiana :)! From Yahoo: http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/nm/20030107/mdf180047.jpg lindsay_lee Jan 7th, 2003, 10:54 AM I saw most of this match on at home and was surprised at how much Tatiana was attacking. Jen really should have come to net more, if she had done so the result IMO would have been different. Instead, Tatiana really took it to Jen. She hit some great volleys, she is more than just a baseline retriever which I was I thought she was. Jennifer certainly did try her best, there's no way she lost on purpose. She did show some good shotmaking at times, Jen just needs some matchplay. Jen has always had some trouble against people like Tatiana, who chase down every ball, such as Sanchez and Coetzer. bluepastures Jan 7th, 2003, 11:43 AM The main reason I'd be worried, is that over the last 6-7 months, Capriati's form has certainly slumped somewhat. I don't think her fitness is anywhere near as good as it was 12 months ago. I really can't see the main challenge to the Williams sisters coming from Capriati. Clijsters, Davenport and possibly Henin will be more of a threat. gourownway Jan 7th, 2003, 02:39 PM In the last three days there have been different opinions by different reporters about Caps, fitness, so who knows.... I'm not worried yet. I think the the thought of defending OZ is weighing on her a bit. She'll get it together, sometimes you need to play a few throw-away matches to settle yourself and I think the first week of the slams are those types of matches. Any thoughts on her fitness by people who actually watched the match? Was she running things down? JCAP Jan 7th, 2003, 05:40 PM IM not at all worried for Jen it's all good, but nevertheless good win Tatiania!! Rachel Jan 7th, 2003, 10:30 PM The bits of the match I saw she was running things down ... but hmm that was early on ... lol When I watch the full match (ASAP, perhaps tonight...) another thing i'll suss out ... ;) Farina Elia Fan Nov 2nd, 2006, 03:03 PM bump | |
