Petra has never won more than one match in any Miami main draw :cheer:

Can she beat the heat, the humidity and the haters and make some history? :armed:It's a serviceable title but,in keeping with the 'little' motif,I would've either left EVERY word, including Petra's name,in lowercase...or I'd at least make 'time' lowercase so that Petra stood out from the crowd....Anyhow,I can see that you've chosen the ":armed:" emoticon, but there are lots of pistols on Miami's streets,so we'll have to round up some more firepower to make sure that you've got enough back-up:cool:.

Petra had a breakthrough,of sorts,in IW,so let's find out if she can match,or EXCEED,that in Miami :drive:

Yeah, shouldn't she be practicing in Miami, getting acquainted, acclimated to the weather (unless better weather was coming and she was waiting it out), and consulting local Doc's? :oh:

Last year Petra stayed in/at Indian Wells and practiced, cause she said the weather 'suited her asthma'. This is despite the fact that a virus was running rampant, that she allegedly, may have contracted there as well.

I am not sure how many others feel the same way as I do but are keeping silent .....I strongly feel we should retain threads whatever Kvitty's performance & tournament outcomes ... it's a record of her tennis journey & will be a endearing reminder in years to come along with all her trophies, pictures and video clips....that we all were part of that special journey during her playing career....

Also worth remembering is that fans do spend time & effort despite their daily busy schedules to contribute to threads, so just deleting them because of a QF loss as in this case is almost saying that their time & effort in contributing to those posts has not been valued (lets not discount that there was in excess of 12,000 viewings of that thread)... as what keeps the 'Hello Kvitty Sub-forum' alive and kicking is the fans themselves.....

For example, I started the Photos thread the day Petra's sub-forum was created which also happened to be the day she won her first GS SF and earned her place in her first GS Final - there are so many precious contributions in that thread from all her fans who were part of that journey .... do I simply hit the delete button when she has a disappointing loss to erase all memeory or do I responsibly caretake the thread on behalf all those fans in a considerate manner....

Petra's first ever title in Asia/ Middle East and her journey to it was captured in the thread that was deleted so was her performance against Serena at Doha - so there were many precious moments ... that have simply disappeared...

so lets not throw out the baby with the bathwater in haste....Thank you.

dunno but his dedication and drive to be on the top is amazing, they were talking how Nole when was younger when his breakthrough happened sought any help he could get to be better player. He wanted to learn how to transition, serve and volley properly because he thought to stay at #1 you have to go the ball and not wait for it to come to you, also Miles(or was it aussie dude) talked how he trained Nole for 6 weeks to give him basics in transition, told him to work on it everyday because you can't learn it overnight cos this takes years of practice. Petra doesn't need to be work out freak like him and spend 98% on practice court but at least she can take lesson from his book by trying to get best possible help from different sources not just rely on your own coach.

All I know, as a Pova fan, is that Petra is scarily good and unbeatable when she is healthy and she plays up to 90% of her capabilities.

I don't know whether Petra needs to improve but her healthy issues are certainly leaving windows of opportunities for other tour players.

And good stuff by Shifty (his tid bit), regarding Nole, his drive, and his desire to get better and seeking various specialist; improving various aspects of his game. :yeah:

It's not surprising. Good for him though!!

You sound like players never done this before, anyone at some point gets help from a specialist even if they are experts in their own field. It's up to Petra, if she feels the need to get in touch with someone else to improve her game i think she would do it. I have doubts about Kotyza suggesting something like this, tho maybe i'm wrong and he's not that stubborn and overconfident as i think of him:lol:

She's good and talented. challenge is to get that talent work from tournament to tournament at least at 50%, she admitted herself sometimes she has problem with maintaining 100% focus though the match and this hurts her, the most recent example her match vs MaKiri.

Knowing Petra's luck if she copied anything Djokovic does, she'd get caught .... unlike him :rolleyes:Forgive my ignorance in this particular matter, but what do you mean??Is there either rumors or circumstantial evidence linking Nole to PEDs?My guess is that Petra would be afraid to mess with them....unless,maybe,she were trying to speed up her recovery from an injury to play a Slam event.Even then,I think that she'd be very reluctant...and would only do so if her team persuaded her that she could 'beat' the test.My impressions are that the tennis drug testing isn't quite as thorough as other sports'...and that a clever, committed doper could avoid detection.

The most powerful athletes on and off the field were determined by Rick Horrow, host of Bloomberg TV "Sportfolio" and CEO of Horrow Sports Ventures; CSE, a leading integrated marketing agency; the Nielsen/E-Poll N-Score; and BSports. The rankings are based 50% on these "off-field" measurements, and 50% on "on-field" performance using a variety of industry statistics.

"This is the fourth year of the Power 100, and it continues to command attention as an invaluable tool to evaluate an athlete's brand and measure his or her market value," Horrow said. "In today's 24/7 news cycle, as athletes increasingly dominate front page headlines well out of the sports section, their endorsement contracts are increasingly under scrutiny."

ShuShu is sort of like a lesser Bartoli, she can produce breathtaking tennis and beat majority of top players but most of the time it's hilarious fuckery. Petra vs ShuShu could be very entertaining match with amazing display of GOATness or drama worthy enough to make it to an episode of Gitanas. Petra should win this easily but because it's Miami with slow ass courts, high humidity and both players are so unpredictable, i wouldn't be surprised if she loses

Exactly. The top-3 are not perfect players but when they play crap, that's when you witness their top-3 mental strength and come out of the match victorious (esp. against subranked players they should be beating regularly). I know Petra has to have the rhythm first (during the first few rounds) but she has to play the game eventually and she just cannot rely on her first strike anymore (esp. in the early rounds) because let's face it, in the early round, you won't come up with you GS final level of play due to rustiness/lack of rhythm/adjustment to the surface - in this case, being mentally prepared (and plowing through) is the key. I'm not even talking about her Miami loss (I'll give her a little more benefit of the doubt), but come on, AO 2nd round loss, Sydney, Brisbane, Paris?
