wait, im so confused.

the auckland matches started 3 hours before the gold coast matches. and 3 matches have already finished in auckland. so how is it that the gold coast matches are just starting  what am i missing

shouldn't gold coast have started like 3 and a half hours ago?

Matches in Auckland started at 11am and the ones in Gold Coast at 2pm...But with the time zone differences, I calculated that the Gold Coast matches should have started 35 minutes ago...

I hope and guess I'm right ;)

don't get me wrong i am really happy patty got through to the semis, but i do find it unbelievable the amount of times people get injured when they are going to play her. dokic in antwerp (and i think therer was another match where she retired in the third, or was that that one?), someone at new haven, mauresmo at zurich and now shaughnessy. i think this might be the first one where she has not had to play someone else though, why is that? are there timing issues involved.

anyway go patty, just make tire MGM out, because i really like her, she is dangerous, but also an unforced error machine.

yeah but when it's a top twenty player who came pretty damn close to losing to nicole pratt the day before, compared with a player who has been ranked as high as 7 (or something) and who appeared to displaying some of that form, it is a bit of a shock to most people.

It also shows that Pratt is a pretty tough player to beat...much tougher than most people think. Im not shocked at all, Babsi is a shadow of her former self.

pratt is a solid player, but anyone ranked in the top twenty should be able to handle her better than dechy did (ie deserve to win). i know pratt is trying to change her game, but lets face it, Australian women's tennis is in a big slump. you can say oh well molik has shown great form at the hopman cup, and yes she has, but I would really like to see if those results will translate into SIGNICANT movement in the rankings (ie top 30 by yearsend) when she gets into an actual tournament and the big names start playing to their potential. i think people expect to much of these players when they really just don't have that much game, and that stops them sometimes from producing some good results (ie top 50) like they should be.

babsi probably is a shadow of her former self, but so were names like maleeva, schnyder, capriati etc, so don't write her off completely.

No problem. I dont consider this an argument :)

I actually agree with most of what you say...Aussie womens tennis is in a big hole (Pratt has done well so I exclude her) and yes even though Alicia has played great at the Hopman Cup...lets see how she handles tournament play where ranking points are at stake.

Anyway, re Pratt...she can give anyone (except the top 5 I'd say) a real match when she is on, and I wasnt surprised by her fight against Dechy...that's all I was trying to say about that ;)

I just got back from the tennis, I had to leave early so i missed Elena's last set. But she had to get her left thigh strapped in the middle of the 2nd set and was having trouble serving with the injury, and moving a little. I don't know if it is serious but she didn;t look very distressed.
