Hey, I get up in the middle of the night during the schoolweek for the Aussie Open. :p I was dead last year with Lleyton's Masters Cup win in Sydney, and then with Kim's run to the AO SFs. :o

There's no way I would be able to sleep if I knew Lleyton or Kim were playing a match. I'm overly obsessed like that. :o :p If it's live, I have to see it live, even if it's only on a real-time scoreboard. I hate being at school and having to try and pay attention in class when one of them is playing. :p

My parents don't get that either, QG, but they've stopped trying to tell me to go back to bed. :p

And yeah, my celebrations do have a tendancy to wake up the household. :o I made everyone watch the LA final with me, so that was okay :p but when Lleyton beat RodPrick in the 2001 US Open QFs, I thought I was going to have a coronary from keeping my mouth shut so everyone else could sleep. I have since perfected the art of jumping around my room silently. ;) :p

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:06 AM
Come on Xavier, make it quick so I can go to bed :p

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:06 AM
Oops I just realized this is a 'Kim vs Iroda scores' thread..not a Belgium vs Uzbekistan thread..maybe I should move the Xavier/Oleg scores over.

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:14 AM
Well we seem to be the only ones interested in scores at the moment :o If you wanna start a new thread I'll follow you there though lol

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:15 AM
I don't really wanna start a new one..we'll call it bonus coverage :D

Xavier 2-1*

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:17 AM
Good idea :D And like I said, we're the only ones here at the moment... and tomorrow we can get a mod or the starter of the thread to change the title just in case somebody is looking for the scores of this match!!

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:18 AM
Xavier serving at *2-2... come on Xavier, finish him off so I can go to bed!!

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:21 AM

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:26 AM
Xavier 4-3*

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:27 AM
I hope it works too *crossing fingers* Having a stomach flu is like the worse feeling in the world :(

And speaking of stomach flu, my aussie friend from the cult board said that Xavier called the trainer a couple of games ago and she wasn't really able to see what was going on but the commentators seem to think that he's not feeling well

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:31 AM
Well that's not good :( Where is Kim with those Jelly beans when you need her!

Xavier 5-4*

On a little sidenote the hopman cup website has these scores:

Kim Clijsters (Belgium) d Iroda Tulyaganova (Uzbekistan) 6-3 6-2
Xavier Malisse (Belgium) d Oleg Orgorodov (Uzbekistan) -

lol it appears they've assumed Xavier will win :)

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:33 AM
Hopefully Xavier pulls this one out because if indeed he's not feeling well then it doesn't look good for the doubles :(

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:36 AM
Xavier 6-5*

Come on Xavier..break now!!

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:37 AM

angele87

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:44 AM

Oleg won the second set 7-6

I swear if I was in Australia I would run onto the court and strangle Xavier!

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:45 AM
Strangle Oleg, not Xavier :p

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:47 AM
Yeah I suppose strangling Xavier would be counter productive...but still!! If I were Kim I would slap him around a bit :p

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 04:51 AM
Apparently Kim just arrived at Xavier's match so maybe she can do something to help him out :)

Has Xavier's play picked up or Oleg's dropped off?

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 05:00 AM
Do we still have just the one pic from the ball? There must be more

FroggyLight
Jan 2nd, 2003, 05:02 AM

Really? Are you sure  Because say they win 2-1 tonight, then win their tie against the U.S, wouldn't they advance?

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 05:11 AM
Why do they have to win 3-0?

FroggyLight
Jan 2nd, 2003, 05:13 AM
Hmmmmm I duno because last year I thought they counted the points too, but yeah if they beat US 2-1 they will advance... but if they don't... erh... wait... I can't count ... forget it :o -__-
*goes back to watching Pucca*

Hawk
Jan 2nd, 2003, 05:15 AM
Since they both have 2 ties then they're match against each other will be the deciding third tie..so the winner of USA/Belgium goes the the final.

angele87
Jan 2nd, 2003, 05:19 AM
Ana, I think they might count point if teams are tied... like if 3 teams were all tied with 2 wins each.... Team A, B and C all beat Team D and then Team A beat B, Team B beat C and team C beat A, they would be tied so then they would probably go to matches won... but if Belgium beats the U.S tomorrow they're going to advance :D

Iroda is injured and (almost) surely she'll have an operation after Australian Open
She tried to avoid it doing some treatments with laser , but, unlucky, just in second match of the year, she suffered a new injury at shoulder (and consequently ) and to elbow.
Despite of this bad notice, i know ;) she had fun at bail for 1th of 2003 ( she partecipated to a party together with all other players and their families..) and she's confident in the future
" well,this is sports life i will handle it... i'm strong ":)
My wish is she can reach again third round in australia as last year...after all, a tall Croatian guy won Wimby with a broken shoulder :o

Hi Franzit,

Sad news! But it sounds like she intends playing round the injury short-term. Do you know for sure she will be competing in the remaining Hopman match, Hobart and Aus Open? It’s good to know she’s being posertive about the future. Let’s hope this operation is a 100% success, and we all wish Iroda a speedy recovery.

Thanks franzit. Getting news on Iroda can be difficult, but not for you it would appear! If you’re not a member already, you’re very welcome at the Iroda Yahoo! group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/irodatulyaganova/
