My cable company has started providing RAI channel.. I don't know Italian, but am thinking about subscribing to this service considering that Tennis coverage is better in Europe than in the States.

Is RAI known for a good Tennis coverage? do they show a lot of it? live? early rounds? ALL players?

Please let me know!

Thanks in advance

RAI is Know for a bad Tennis covarage!Sometimes they show tennis at 1am for 30 minutes, and then nothing for months!!
Thay broadcast only Rome's tournament with italian player..
This because in Italy tennis is not very popoular!!
I'm sorry!Eurosport is much better!!!

if u want to see tennis in italy u have to do a subscription with Stream or Telepiu and u'll pay lots of money at month but u'll see almost all atp/wta events and also all Grand Slams LIVE.

You have to make a subscription to BOTH Telepiu' and Stream, you mean!
Otherwise you'll get just half.
T+ has 3 slams but Wimbledon.
Stream has Wim+Masters+Tier1

As for Rai, the last matches they broadcast are Panatta's 70s Davis Cup matches!
:)
Absolutely awful coverage, and without a reason, to boot, because they DO have the rights.
During the Italian Open they have "exclusive rights" and they show some (SOME) highlights at.....TWO THIRTY IN THE MORNING!!!

PS When I was young (early 70's) I thought Tennis was
1. Davis Cup
2. Roma
3. Minor Tournaments like Wimbledon
Then in 76 foreign tvs came up (Koper Capodistria and Telemontecarlo) and.................

Do you think we will get a lot of coverage now with La7? I hope so

I didn't know SLO Koper/Capodistria is seen in Italy! Do you live close to the border?

Well, actually I do (20 kms far from Venice).
But for reasons I frankly do not know, TeleCapodistria was seen all over Italy.
I mean, programmes were in Italian and the language was Italian.
I'm not even sure it was the "real" TeleCapodistria, maybe just the italian branch of that Tv.
As for Mtv, which has MTV Usa, MTV Italy, MTVFrance and so on.
The same goes for Telemomtecarlo, which has nothing to do with Montecarlo, I mean the city in Monaco PrinceTown.
But I know no more.

thanks a lot, guys (and girls) for all the input... you just saved my money.

TBE, there is no other TV here except for Mexican (lots of soccer), British publuc (parlament), a little bit of BBC (news) and now RAI. I wish there were.
