View Full Version : Who will have a better career: Kim or Daniela?

Right now everybody tips these two: Kim & Daniela from the generation next to be the greatest challengers to the Williams 2x domination. But on the long run: who will be the better player and win more slams? Kim or Daniela??!!

Is it:
Kim: the girl who hits like Davenport with better movement

or
Daniela: the next Venus?

Your thoughts

Kim kim kim and she has just started.
And my opinion, justine will amaze everyone ... She's also one to keep an eye on!

Venus Forever

Definitely Kim.

As for Daniela being Venus, I see the height and long legs and backhand, but definitely not movement.

And Kim doesn't hit the ball as hard and deep as Lindsay.

Its hard to predict now because Kim has been a top player for a long time, while Dani has only just broken into the top ten. I think Dani has more room for improvement, but Kim is already a great player now. I wish them both the best for their careers anyway, but i'm not making a decision on who'll be better now.

Actually a question where you know what the people will answer.
Kim has an advantage above Daniela because of her last two years ...

Yeah Kimmyfan I agree with you that Kim has an edge right now, but Daniela has improved scary much last year( no 108 to no 8??) Thatīs iimpressive stuff!!

Just like people have said before in this threath, we will have to wait and see if Daniela can stay in the top 10 ...
Then we can be sure let's give her a year to prove it ...

I have to go with Kim, there the same age (19) but Kim has achieved so much more already and will keep doing so, now her shoulder has healed.

DANIELA and KIM will both have (are already having) great careers.

Kim but Daniela can be great too. :D I think Kim is more athletic and has more variety. Hantuchova is probably more effective on grass whereas Kim will be better on hard courts and clay IMO.

The elite of the tour is mostly power baseliners.

Serena, Venus, Lindsay, Monica, Jenn, Jelena, Justine and Dani herself, of course. (Anyone who objects to calling Justine that, go look at the tape of the Berlin and/or Rome finals. I ain't even arguin' with you.) A few steps back, but likely waiting in a key quarterfinal match, Stevenson, Bovina, Dementieva.

Who has a game more suited to beating them?

To my mind, the all court player. The player who goes to net. The player who can turn a baseline rally into a scramble-fest.

Both these players CAN do that. But only one does it instinctively.

They are both GOOD!! I can see both of them getting to #1 in the future.

Hmm....I don't like neither of them.
But I'd say that so far Kim has been better.

I think they could end up pretty even in the end... respectable records, but nothing staggering to behold.

Well they are both the same age (actually Dani is a couple of months older) so as much as everyone says Dani is the new kid on the block she is actually the youngest!

Kim has already done so much more, but both will go on & do great things but overall I think Kim will be better

both players will have great careers but it's to early to tell who'll be better since this is Dani's first year in the top 10 while kim has been around a while

Serena is a baseline first...I agree. But she is starting to come to the net more and more. Thatīs difference between this year and other years: her netplay. As long as she keep that up, I canīt see anybody beating her!

The Kim vs Daniela discussion......hmmm, they are both good. Although Kim has achieved more in her career, I think that if we look at both players first full year on tour Daniela has the edge. So if you look at it that way Daniela had more of a sudden impact: Winning IW, reaching the quarters of 2 GSīs, the jump in rankings, etc. Also their style of play: From what Iīve seen from Dani she plays so natural and generates amazing power for such a slender girl. In the end I think both careers will be pretty even.

Excuse me but the first full year on the tour was in 2001!! When she had 18 years old in June!!

So, she reached a GS final, won 2 Tier II, 1 Tier I, reached the semis of the masters,...
