Worse than a bird as been killed. A net judge was struck hard by a ball hit by Stefan Edberg years ago. He fell off his chair and hit his head hard on the concrete.

I think Edberg was haunted by that for a long time.

But that was hardly the ball to be blamed in that case, Jakeev.
It was a match he played when he was Junior.

PS. Who's that troll who knees down and prays in front of the dying bird?
The stupidest gesture i've ever seen on a tennis court in 40 years, that is.

I remember that well!
It was this year, the all-french doubles semi final in the Aus Open

It can be killing for human beings too, I think.

A hockeyplayer was almost killed by a ball last year, the same is possible to happen with tennisballs too, I think.

I think it was Michael Llodra who prayed for the dead bird.

I thought it was Julien Boutter who kneeled to the ground. I guess he was trying to be funny

Hahahahahah.........I remember that!! I think it was an all french doubles match. Then one of the guys hits the bird and the bird is gone! Then Santoro goes like this: " You killed the bird, omg you killed the bird!!" Hhaahahhaa..........hillarious man! I was crying from the laughing!!!

About that Stefan Edberg incident- what happened to that umpire? I remember hearing about that a long time ago and I thought that the umpire (who I think was elderly) actually died? Is that just a myth? Does anyone know?

Does anyone know what happened to the umpire in the Stefan incident? For some reason, I feel like I read that he died or had a stroke or something? Anyone?

I remember watching this match! The Frenchmen put on a show after and Boutter gave his respects to the bird, lol.

Didn't an aussie player die on court because of heat exhaustion in the 70s?
