England_Rules,

You are not the only one. No one kisses me from here either but my boyfriend (outside of WTAworld.com) who looks a lot like Marat Safin. So, I don't mind at all. :) No one here know how to kiss and/or appreciate for the help!

Thank you, again! :wavey:

If Hingis isn't on that list, she's not entered.

So she must have pulled out.

Oh, No martina.

I heard that the organizers of the event still had some hope for Martina.

Without Martina,.. it wouldn't be the same tournament (at least for me) :(

Good luck to Chanda & Anna in MD and Mi-ra in Quali waiting list.
:D

Get well soon, Martina~~~

Why are they so different to what has been released on the website??
I can understand if the website listed only 5 or 6 players, but when they release 21 direct entry players, then they should be the same, surely as what the WTA released?

Goooo Alex!

Good luck to Alex, Anna and Rubin!

the website has had names on for a long time even before the deadline, those names are provisional (they are guessing who MIGHT come)

They only appeared after an article about who was playing was released .. (so obviously they haven't completely closed then)

The only differences are that Hingis, bedanova and Majoli are listed as Direct Entry on the website, where as they don't appear on the WTA list, instead they have Coetzer, Petrova and Farina as Direct Entry.

But there has been anumber of article recently saying that they are still hopeful Hingis will play and that many players have skipped the Oz open in the past and started there season in Tokyo.. Now if Martina had not entered then surely these articles would not have appeared?

not any more , she's withdrawn from Tokyo too

BBC
The uncertainty over the future of Martina Hingis will continue after she announced her withdrawal from next month's Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.
Hingis, the defending champion, pulled out of the $1.3m (£850,000) tournament beginning on 28 January because she has not fully recovered from ankle surgery.

The 22-year-old Swiss had already announced that she would not be able to play at the first Grand Slam event of 2003, the Australian Open.

The former world number one had surgery back in May that kept her out of the French Open and Wimbledon.

Hingis to miss Aussie Open
She announced in October that she would take an indefinite break, citing January for a possible comeback.

However, in December, Hingis admitted that her left ankle required further rehabilitation.

Hingis has shared the Tokyo indoor title with Lindsay Davenport over the past six years, winning in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2002.

Her withdrawal leaves Davenport and Australian Open champion Jennifer Capriati as the favourites for this year's crown.
