Dokic hurt her ankle, I think.

Barbara really impressed me tonight, as did anna and monica but I found davenport ridiculously dull.

I don't think so. Venus and Serena would still whoop their arses, Monica beats Justine on everything but grass, and Capriati would do some damage.

4-0? Yikes.

Well, what did we expect. Even with Amelie, Justine, and Kim, it would have been difficult for the Europeans against a full-strength US team. Without them, it was a hopeless cause.

Dec 7th, 2002, 06:19 AM
EU's best players are just VERY young. USA are much older & wiser ATM. In a year or 2 it will be MUCH closer. So HA!! :p

EU
Kim 19
Justine 20
Amelie 23
Daniela 19
Jelena 19
Elena B 19

USA
Venus 22
Serena 21
Jennifer 26
Monica 28
Lindsay 26
Chanda 26

An in-form-European Mary Pierce could do some damage to the US team.

Not Amelie, Jelena, Justine, Daniela nor Kim.

Daniela will beat Jenn :fiery:

Next year they should make it 20 a side ;)
then Europe will kick ass

or at least 10-12 players each

TheBoiledEgg
Dec 7th, 2002, 10:17 AM
Europe

Clijsters
Henin
Mauresmo
Hantuchova
Dokic

Dechy
Danilidou
Kournikova

USA
Williams
Williams
Capriati
Seles
Davenport
Rubin
Stevenson
Raymond
Shaughnessy
Frazier
Granville

Alot better competition and alot closer but you'd need 4-5 days or so to hold it

Serena is a bit rusty, she was broken once though she DF twice in the last 2 points

But she manages to finish the match by breaking Majoli at 11th game then serves for the match

Well done :)

I'm very shocked that EUR has not even taken a set yet.

May I remind you that the two best Europeans are not taking part...

Bovina took a set off Venus 6-4

Are we going to have live scoring for the Capriati/Hantuchova match?

Is this the first time Venus played Bovina?

Thank you Oliver.

Then this loss to Bovina is really nothing to worry about. I'm pretty sure if this were a tournament, Venus would have played better and I don't think it would have gone to three sets, but if it did, Venus would have still won.

Dec 7th, 2002, 10:35 PM
Elena is alot better than she was in 2001,
she's gotten a whole lot better in the last 6 months

She had Venus on the backfoot for most of the time.

lizchris
Dec 7th, 2002, 11:37 PM
I know she beat Dokic at the US Open and she took a set off of Lindsay, but Lindsay was coming back from an injury and no expected much from Dokic, so we will have to see in 2003 how she will do against the top player because that when it is really going to count.

Please Willie fans.... this is ONE Exhiwhocaresbition match. If Bovina squeaking past a VERY - casual - playing - of - lately - in -REAL - matches - Venus Williams has got you worried, then you need to become a Bovina fan.

Well done to the five Americans for turning up to support this event. Let's face it, none of them really needed to.

It's a pity the top five Europeans couldn't be bothered (with the exception of Dani) so that we could have put up a better fight.
