Here's the translation people were waiting for: (difficult to translate lyrics... I tried to do as well as I could, while respecting the song)

THE KIM RAP

Kim&Co: (song by Chris Vanden Durpel)

Background for the non-Flemish Kim fans:

this Famous Flemish comedian makes songs with his fake band for his weekly TV show (band is called ‘Get Steady’ I think? As a ;) @ Flemish boys band Get Ready); the songs are always about some famous people or some events in the news. So this rap was shown in the weekly show on TV (prime time).
Enjoy! :)
_____

(translated by Ingrid)

The group walks on court. They chat about te US Open that it wasn't that well, that they like Wimbledon better, love the grass,...
then they sing

'Sabine Appelmans, Dominique Monamie,
have you still heard something of them ?
No, pff, thanks! It’s clear because
what I want is a love game with Kim, but keep it quiet
that's what I want to go for, on such a covered indoor court,
she may hit me, kick me, break my serve and serve,

Give me a set
in a canopy bed (:o !Lleyton... another one in for her LOL :D)
I want power play with this chick from Bree,
but she is taken...

Her tennis hero has told me so,’
(meanwhile showing Lleyton on the TV screen)
‘because the Australian champ has already
more than half of her prize money
I want serve and volley,

I want to the net,’
(they are sitting now)
‘yesterday still, with Jos (?), I have made a bet,
that I, and now pay attention,
will put a love game on the scoreboard with Kim tomorrow

I want a tiebreak, straight to paradise,
or such a powerful forehand with backhand slice,
I want to see a serve of Kim on my face
I want a love game, about a quarter past ten,

Give me a set
in a canopy bed’ (ow Lleyton!!! :p)
‘I want powerplay with this chick from Bree
but she is taken’

‘Lei Clijsters has called'
(showing her dad on TV now)
'that, tell it now, astonished, (?)
that if I don't stop with this stupid rap
that he will call the cops'
(showing the cops taking the “singer” away, and “Lei” watching it)
END
:D

Just heard the latest song on Radio 1 in Flanders (biggest public radiostation): it was at noon right now

They've made a prayer to Kim to stay here

called 'Stay with us, Kim'

I'll have the lyrics later (and will translate them, it's too good) but some stuff I can share right now:

'marry a good guy and then get some six children' :p *cough*

'don't do this to us, we already don't have much'

The music they used is originally from 'Don't hold me back'... can't think of the author right now.

Any Flemings who can add to this?

It was on "De Nieuwe Wereld", so song by De Nieuwe Wereld Orkest. This is a program that regularly makes songs (using music of existing songs) re the latest news topics, it's all in good fun.

I think it will be online soon, I'll check to post the link here.

Allright, here are the lyrics (from radio1's website)

Blijf bij ons, Kim (5 december 2002)

Blijf bij ons, Kim
Jij lieve zomersproet
Ga niet weg, doe het niet
Blijf bij ons, Kim
het eten is hier goed
erwtensoep, biefstuk friet

Jij bent een Vlaamse hinde, geen kangoeroe
En al die vreemde vrienden, die word je wel eens moe

Blijf bij ons, Kim
Jij lieve Limburgfee
Ga niet weg, doe het niet
Blijf bij ons, Kim
't Is beter hier in Bree
Carnaval, vrolijk lied

Een Vlaams huisje bouwen, met marmeren bordes
Een nette jongen trouwen, en dan een kind of zes

Blijf bij ons, Kim
We noemen een straat naar jou
Wij maken je gravin
Blijf toch altijd bij ons

Oooons
Toe, blijf bij ons

Jij bent van ons
Alleen van ons
Blijf toch bij ons

Blijf bij ons, Kim
Doe 't ons niet aan om nu weg te gaan
want we hebben al niet veel

uitvoerder: Pieter-Jan De Smet
tekstschrijver: Karel Vereertbrugghen
origineel: Don’t hold me back van Neeka

Stay with us, Kim :D

(translated by Ingrid)

Stay with us, Kim
You sweet summer freckle
Don't go away, don't do it

Stay with us, Kim
the food is good here
pea-soup, "steak fries"

You're a Flemish hind, no kangaroo
And all those foreign friends, you'll have enough of them one day

Stay with us, Kim
You sweet Limburg fairy
Don't go away, don't do it
Stay with us, Kim
It's better here in Bree
Carnival, merry song

Building a Flemish little house, with marble steps
Marry a decent boy, and then some six children

Stay with us, Kim
We will name a street after you
We will make you a countess
Please, stay with us forever

Uuuuuus
Please, stay with us

You are ours
only ours
Please, stay with us

Stay with us, Kim
Don't do this to us to leave now
because we already don't have much

singer: Pieter-Jan De Smet
written by: Karel Vereertbrugghen
original: Don’t hold me back by Neeka

It should be online, but only if you're very fast and listen the next couple of hours.

It should be on www.radio1.be, then you go to 'programma's', click then on 'De Nieuwe Wereld' (audio icon) and select 'na deel 2' (I think it should be at the beginning of deel 2) Most of the Flemish radio programs of that station are online, is a service for people abroad or who missed the program.

I can't check myself, as I can't have music files on this computer...
But give it a try, if it's not on 'deel2', it should be at the end of 'deel1'.

It's not really interesting for people who don't understand Dutch, but well, this is the address.

I found the following song quite worthy of a translation effort:D

It's one written at the ocassion of Kim receiving the Sport Personality Award in Flanders in January this year.

I tried to stay a bit in touch with the music :p anyway

Have fun:p , dear Loungers!:D

CLIJSTERS

translated by Ingrid

A strong service a cunning volley
also the backhand isn’t spared
And Kim has the monopoly
On a beautiful grand écart

Clijsters, your split position is a feast to look at
Clijsters, your split position is a feast to look at

Without reluctance and without nonsense
Queen of the tennis court
And from now on, on January eleven
Sport Personality of the Year

Clijsters, your split position is a feast to look at
Clijsters, your split position is a feast to look at

With lots of guts, style and grace
The competition put aside
And look, what a sensation!
Kim does the split right near the net

Clijsters, your split position is a feast to look at
Clijsters, your split position is a feast to look at

ALL: She isn’t married yet!
TOM: I still have a chance!
PJDS: Kim, I love you so
GEENA: And your grand écart
ALL: She isn’t married yet!

Clijsters, your split position is a feast to look at
Clijsters, your split position is a feast to look at

This one is also by Het Nieuwe Wereld orkest and at the moment you can't buy it on cd, but maybe in a few weeks there will be an official release of this one!

Normally it will also be on the second album of Het Nieuwe Wereld orkest (out by the end of 2004)
