It will be hard at the beginning as usual for her but the second part or the year will be better.

Flipper has performed solidly in the past in Australia. If she stays fit and healthy the surfaces in the first 3 / 4 months suit her game.

Kirsten has pretty much nothing to defend till Rosmalen mainly due to last year having blood clots. I'd expect Kirsten would be aiming to take advantage of that and put together a campaign for top 30.

Sid Auckland draw. Use it Kirsten and start 2013 with a bang!

Wow after a comfortable first set that began such a tough fight! Well done Kirsten.

But Flipper is an absolute fighter, I think I saw her down 2-4 in the 3rd set.

A win to start the new season is always nice and a long match like that would have to get her game together.

Hope she isn't tired for round 2 because I too see it as winnable.

Dorien.

Onto Hobart.

Round 1 against schiavone. Kirsten has a great shot to win I think.

Good luck!

Kirsten should be winning some of her matches much more easily than she is. But the positive thing is she does t dwell on missed opportunities just fights back and does t give up.

Kirsten broke in the first game of the 3rd only to give it back in the next game. Schiavone served for the match but Flipper broke back and dominated the tiebreak.

So happy she has made top 50 :)

Dorien.

She lost to Barthel 6-4, 6-4. I saw a large part of the first set. She fought good to stay on serve, but her service game at 5-4 was appalling (she led 30-0 and made 4 errors in a row).

But good tournament. AO, here we come!

Ollie.
Jan 11th, 2013, 04:38 PM

She said that after she missed 3 easy forehand in that game at 4-5 30-0 first set against Barthel she never felt the ball that well again. And i can understand :p

She also said with irony : "Previous week i reach the quarters in Auckland. This week i'm going to the semis in Hobart, next week i'm in final" Kirsten :hearts:

Was at Flipper's match today. Kirsten wasn't too impressed by lines people

Kirsten served well , 5 aces. Her 2nd serve is serviceable but I think it's an area she can make improvements in to keeps moving up the rankings. Moves the ball very nicely around the court. Also needs to work on her top spin backhand as well, the slice is very effective but to be able to change it up more especially in service return would be good.

Overall a good match which she was never going to lose.

Was very happy afterwards :)

She lost 3 sets but was leading 5-1 in the last one :sobbing:

Guess she felt the pressure, though she said she would not feel it while playing in her home country.

No one cares that she's in the SF of WTA Rosmalen?

Great news! And she has a good chance for the final I think!
And good that she defended her points from last year! Now, she can only rise up the rankings until the US Open!!! :bounce:

^She reached the final ;)

And she won R1 at Wimbledon in straight sets over Putintseva. I saw some of it, she wasn't playing great but she was solid enough for the win. She should have a more challenging R2 match against Jovanovski, but Jovanovski is brainless so I hope Flipper just slices her to death

6-4 6-4 :D
I watched it. She didn't play that well, but she was solid enough to get past her brainless opponent
R3 vs. Dolonc (SRB) :bounce:
Such a great opportunity to go far here, best of luck Flipper! :)

Also won 6-3 6-3 in doubled with Rybarikova over Cirstea/Morita :yeah:

And another win 6-4, 6-2! Against Flavia again. Hopefully, Flavia will be as frustrated after that match as she was after the match at Roland Garros

But she complained about her knee before the match. Please retire from doubles!

Pennetta is next. Flipper defeated her at the best surface for the italian in Roland Garros. We'll see, good luck Flipper.

She looks so comfortable and fearless out there. It's amazing considering her lack of experience at the highest level!

Yeah amazing... at first I tought she didn't give a f**k about it at all... But seems she was 'in the zone' all time.

Wth?! That was brilliant! Whatever people say, Kvitova played a very good third set. She was the better player, but Flipper's mental stability was phenomenal!

Well done, and nothing is impossible!

Indeed mentally she was so strong. Hopefully she can show some of her mental strength tomorrow. I am so sad I have to work tomorrow. And it's still busy at my job so not able to take free in the afternoon :sobbing:

Time for a well deserved break now.

Too bad her serve was completely off today. I hope she'll start to play a bit more agressive in the future as well. She tried but it wasn't enough.

That being said, she obviously played a great tournament and Bartoli played very good today.

Hopefully she'll build on this!

I'm a little late on this, but what an amazing run for her at Wimbledon :worship:
I've been her fan for years and I've always been here for her through thick and thin, so it's so nice to see her doing so well. She deserves it so much :)

Her leg is still not okay?

Hopefully she will return at the Rogers Cup.
