Former President George H.W. Bush has been moved to the intensive care unit at Methodist Hospital in Houston, hospital officials confirmed to the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday.

Bush, 88, has been struggling with fever, weakness and a bronchitis-like cough, according to the Associated Press. He was originally planning to spend Christmas at home, but that plan was prevented by high fever.

Bush originally was checked into the hospital in November with bronchitis symptoms.
Bush suffers from vascular Parkinson’s disease and missed the Republican National Convention this year.

Yes, but it took a sharp turn for the worse ritgh after that. Reportedly, he was admitted Sunday.

His immune system is not responding well, and it looks like the anti-biotics he is being given may have reached a point of diminishing returns.

Though he is reportedly alert and enjoying a "running banter" with his nurses, former President George H.W. Bush is in the intensive care unit at Houston's Methodist Hospital.

The Houston Chronicle writes (http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Bush-41-in-guarded-condition-in-ICU-4147280.php) that "Jim McGrath, Bush's spokesman in Houston, said the 88-year-old's fever rose on Wednesday, but doctors at Methodist Hospital report he is doing better than the day before. He was admitted to the ICU on Sunday."

The nation's 41st president has been in the hospital since the day after Thanksgiving. He went there for treatment of a persistent cough. A fever has kept him there.

Bush is the oldest — by about four months — of the four living former presidents. He turned 88 in June. Jimmy Carter (http://www.cartercenter.org/news/experts/jimmy_carter.html) turned 88 in October. Bill Clinton and George W. Bush (son of the ailing former president) are both 66.

The Chronicle says Bush has been "surrounded by family" during his hospital stay.

Aide says ex-president Bush improving

HOUSTON (AP) —Former President George H.W. Bush remains in intensive care at a Houston hospital, but he's improving.
Bush family spokesman Jim McGrath said Friday that the 88-year-old former president is continuing to improve. He said Bush is "alert and, as always, in good spirits."

McGrath said Bush's conversations with doctors and nurses at Methodist Hospital now include singing.

He said physicians remain "cautiously optimistic that the current course of treatment will be effective."

Bush has been hospitalized since Nov. 23. He was moved into intensive care Sunday for treatment of a fever following a bronchitis-related cough.

Can you, please, change thread title and put apostrophe in the year you're mentioning?! It should be '41. If you write just 41 it usually means how old is mentioned person

No, that is neither age nor birth date. It means he is the 41st president of the USA or Bush 41
His son, George W Bush, is the 43rd or Bush 43

In the USA, it is a shorthand way to differentiate the father from his son, as Presidents of the USA.
