My favourite womens player ;) Not overall

First thing i like about Slava is her game. She is a great watch, especially when she's playing well. She has a nice all court game, with good attack and good defense too. She attacks the net, and has a great net game which i like, especially in today's tennis. I think she is very talented, and better than her ranking suggests. After i started to become a fan of her game, I realised how much of an awesome personality she has got through Facebook and interviews. Very nice person (by the looks of it), very humble, good sportsman, and very cute.

So in short, her game and personality.

1. I don't know really. I kinda prefer MTF's GM section, mainly because i know more about mens tennis than womens. But TF has better player forums/threads and less haters from what i've seen (i could be wrong). So i'd say that i prefer neither over the other.

2. Barca are a great team, who i like watching. They play great football and are on of the best teams ever. But when they cheat and dive (Busquets especially) then it's annoying

3. Marco Reus, Juan Mata, Oscar, or Mats Hummels.

4. 5ft9 going on 5ft10. Still growing :yeah:

Oh. Never been bad-repped. At least not yet anyway ;)

1.
Del Potro vs Tsonga- Not fussed tbh.
Tsonga vs Nishikori- Tsonga
Del Potro vs Nishikori- Del Potro

2. Definately Jo. Del Po already has a slam, and i don't see Slava or Nishikori as slam winners, so i'm not all that bothered if either of them don't. Jo has been so close before, and it would be great to see him win a slam.

3. Yeah. No more than a pound though. I can live with one of them never winning a slam again.

4. I've been a fan of Slava since Roland Garros this year. I knew about her in 2010, and liked her in 2010, but i wasn't following womens tennis as much at the time. Of course she got injured and fell down quite far in the rankings, so i didn't really see her again until this year.

5. Chicken Madras. I like spicy food

Are you for or against abolishing the let rule?

Why is Slava such a big choker? :hysteric:

Ace or return winner?

1. I don't mind it when it's not constant. On efforts i don't mind, but constant grunting is a bit annoying.

2. I don't think either tbh. I wasn't happy when he won the USO, as i dislike his game, but it's someone apart from the big 3 winning it, so it was good in that way.

3. Against. I think that if the serve is counted as in when it clips the net, then players may try to use that to their advantage. If the other way around, then a let that doesn't affect the ball movement and gets called a fault. I think thats a tad bit unfair. So keep the rule.

4. I wish i had a 100% answer to that  Honestly, i think it's a confidence thing. When she was confident and playing well, she didn't really choke. When she lost her confidence, she started choking. I think she is mentally weak, not matter how well she's playing, but i think she's not as bad when she's confident and on form. I think she also lacks self belief, and that may play a part.

5. Depends on the server. If i hit a return winner on the Raonic first serve, then a return winner. If it's a return winner against Errani's serve, then an ace.

:)

obviously city is not exactly my business :oh: I think they have the best team in the league (PL) but lack the mentality to play at high levels in europe, and this is a matter of manager, not players (for me).
I think they will find a way to win on sunday, but the league is going to end like it ended last season (hopefully NOT though :oh:). they were lucky to win last season (not saying this because I support MUFC), because United went into meltdown, and I think that (even if seems not appropriate to say this on a manager who won some silverware after 36 years) city can make a difference in europe as well only with another manager - someone like mourinho. maybe I'm wrong. maybe it's in their dna to suck in europe  :oh:
with this team they should compete with barcelona, madrid etc though

1. I don't really have a favourite band/musician. But i like The Who, Led Zeppelin, Tears For Fears. I'm not a guy who is into particular artists.

2. Not too fussed with Maths. I was pretty good at it (got a B at GCSE).

3. City seem to struggle when teams go at them. City like to press the opposition back, and play their football by passing it around outside the area until there's an opening. It hasn't worked in Europe because teams like Dortmund, Real, Ajax have come at City from the first whistle, not allowing them to play their game. Also, I think that Top German and Spanish sides are just superior to top English sides. This years Champiosn League is showing the poor quality of the EPL in comparison to other leagues.

4. I would love to meet any of them. Jo and Juan mostly though because they are my 2 favourite players. Both seem like great guys too. I would love to meet Slava too, because i have heard she is very ncie to people who approach her.

Who do you think will win your favorite players contest?

Do you enjoy watching players like Isner, Raonic, Querrey?

Do you watch tennis matches in which none of your faves participates?

Do you think Tomic will be a future slam winner?

Are you happy that I revived your thread? :p

1. Hopefully Slava ;). TBH i don't know. It's hard to predict due to the multiple choice, which gives it an extra twist. I mean, Kerber was the most voted player in round 1 i believe, and now she's 2nd to Robson.

2. I wouldn't say i enjoy it, but i don't mind it either.

3. Yes of course.

4. He can be if he applies himself. I think it depends on Tomic himself, and how Murray, Djokovic, Del Potro do after Fedal retires.

5. yeah ;)

I know this is my Q&A thread.

But, who do you think will win the favourite player tournament?

I know this is my Q&A thread.

But, who do you think will win the favourite player tournament?

It's really difficult to say, I'd like to see the results of the semis first. For me it's quite surprising that Kimiko and Robson are doing so well in this contest but I'm not so sure if they will get as many votes in the latter rounds. I would rather expect the higher ranked players to dominate the SF/final. So here's a wild guess, based on nothing but gut feeling: 1) S. Williams 2) Sharapova 3) Azarenka 4) Kvitova/V. Williams 5) Li Na. How many players can you vote for in the final?

I haven't fully decided yet. I'm thinking a single vote final, where you choose your favourite out of the final 10 instead of choosing a few. Therefore i think we'll get a clear decision on who people's favourite is. The multiple choice option is good in the first few rounds because you are likely to get more than 2 favourite in a group, plus it allows smaller ranked players who are well liked, like Kimiko to get through. In the final it's different as were are defining who the favourite player is, so a single vote would be best imo

Slava's doing okay in this round. 3rd in her group and 5 go through. :yeah:

Personally, I'd prefer a multiple choice poll in the final. IMO that's what makes this contest unique and I think we might see different yet significant results compared to a single choice poll. Single choice would show which player has the most fans, whereas with a multiple choice poll you'd have the chance to vote for your second, third, etc. fave as well; if many people vote for the same player as their second, third, etc. fave, this player would obviously be very much liked as well but would fall short if you could only vote for your first fave. But that's just my opinion and I'll be happy with whatever you decide in the end - it's your contest after all. ;)

If you decide to make it single choice I'd change the predictions I made in my previous post because I made them with a multiple choice final in my mind.

Yeah, that's nice to see! :) And Vika is first in her group, tied with Petra. :cheer:

I haven't fully decided what to do with the final yet. But it's definately going to be single or multiple choice.

What do you think of my contest? (i admit i copied it off MTF :p)

It's OK, you still have plenty of time to decide. Just one last thought for now: with multiple choice it would still be possible for everyone to vote for one fave only like in single choice, but at the same time people with two or more faves have to possibility to vote for all of them. I think that would be an advantage (MTF also had multiple choice in the final, btw :p). Alternatively, if you have difficulties to decide, you could ask the forum to chose the format before the final starts.

I really like it! We've had a somewhat similar contest in October (without polls though) and as you've mentioned there's the one by Sexysova but they all have a different format so it will be very interesting to compare the results. Others seem to like it as well, judging from the number of votes. :yeah:

I plan to get the contest done by the end of next week. Quarter Finals until this weekend. Semis until midweek, and final until next Sunday.

And good :). I thought it wouldn't take off like it has. There has been no objections like there was on MTF, so it's gone quite well. Kinda hoping there are no more votes in QF 1, so Slava goes through . Thought she'd be heading out this round tbh, but she's doing well.

Already looking forward to semis and final! :cheer: By the way, what would you do if players five and six of a group were tied?

Slava is 8 votes ahead of Sabine, that should be enough. :) Quite surprised actually because IIRC Sabine won her first group and now she's only fifth.

I would either make a voting playoff, or i'll tally their votes from the previous rounds and the current one and add them up. Whoever has the most votes goes through.

Slava is going to win it. She's getting through, but hasn't won a group yet. She's going to keep on quietly getting through and then be a suprise winner. ;)

The Sabine thing is what makes this contest so interesting. A player can be getting a lot of votes one round, and then be heading out or just staying in the next. Makes it compelling, and hard to predict. Sabine is still in the Qualifying positions, so she looks pretty safe atm.

Semis are going to be interesting. I'll try make the groups as balanced as i can.

Speaking of which, what do you think of the groupings so far? Are they balanced/good? or unbalanced/bad?

Because often in these contests, groups end up being unbalanced. I made the groups, but i had a system, so it's not like i completely handpicked them.

My dream result would be Slava and Vika being first in the final with the same number of votes. :p Not going to happen though. :sobbing: But yeah, this unique format makes for very interesting results.

I think the groups have been fair and balanced thus far. :yeah: I see no reason to change your system. Apparently people are of the same opinion, otherwise they surely would've complained by now.

Did you watch Doctor Who this year? If yes, then how do you rate the roles of Matt Smith, Karen Gillen and Arthur Darwill and their on-screen chemistry?
