Kimiko has been injured since last week and taking painkiller everyday.
not a fake MTO or something that other young players usually do...

And I think Yulia took bathroom break after 1st set to stop Kimiko's momentum.
Not a rare thing to do for both anyway....

Just got back. I left after Kimiko was broken at 5-3. As I was with a friend I thought it best to just head out and enjoy the art gallery we went to. I had bad vibes and thought it not a good idea to stick around another 20 minutes to see Kimiko lose in a 3rd set tiebreak. Very relieved to come home and see Kimiko survived. Great result and once again Kimiko amazes and surprises me. I love it when she does that. :D

That is just about the most poignant and touching thing I have ever heard a tennis player say after winning a tournament. It really shows just how tough she is. It couldn't have been easy carrying on after all those losses at 42. It would have be so easy just to say, ok, I've had a great innings but it's obviously over now. But that she kept at it once again, still playing with a smile on her face through it all, and then came good once again. It really is incredible. No one in the game deserves success more. You rule Kimiko.

i am not that very familiar with putintseva and i did cheer for kimiko today (maybe therefore i'm more objective?) but i fail to see what exactly in this quote makes her a spoiled brat

i think she admitted her opponent played great, that she was a kid comparing to date krumm, and that playing two matches in a day is never easy, especially for a woman?

One good information for KDK is that her serve was so consistent this week,
look at 1st serve% and # of double fault.

1R 83% / DF:0
2R 76% / DF:1
QF 83% / DF:1
SF 86% / DF:0
F 78% / DF:1

76-86% is extremely high and only 3 double faults for 5matches.
When she's losing she used to have 1st serve 40-60% and often has 2-4 DF "in a set".

Serve improvement helped KDK a lot and if she can continue this,
it'll be easier for her to keep serve which is always considered to be her weak point.
hope 2013 will be good year for her...

I'm still utterly confused why this board has such a beef with immature teenage girl...I'm fairly certain none of us were angels when we were 17 and thought to be the center of the universe. Tennis forum posters should be able to distinguish between actual tennis skills and character traits, which are irrelevant to the game

Oh sorry to be sick of glorifying below average results of former TOP 5 player.

People are sick of your attitude too.
She's 42, how many players of over 40 are still playing and actually winning? For that she deserves respect, for that her below average results are still 'great' to many. I am sorry you have unrealistic expectations, but if everyone in this world was like you, gosh how depressing this world would be.

I was there and watched both the semifinals and the final. I was disgusted the way Putintseva was behaving.
Putintseva were pumping fists on all of her opponents faults, yelling c’mon, davaj continuously on every mistake her opponents did. She almost questioned every line call which was called against her.

In the final against Kimiko in the third set when Kimiko was to serve for the match at 5-3, Putintseva went to her chair and changed her shoelaces or that what I think she did for at least for 2-3 minutes while Kimiko was waiting on the court to serve for the match. Kimiko last that game and asked for MTO. Everyone can judge who started the gamesmanship game.

I'm still utterly confused why this board has such a beef with immature teenage girl...I'm fairly certain none of us were angels when we were 17 and thought to be the center of the universe. Tennis forum posters should be able to distinguish between actual tennis skills and character traits, which are irrelevant to the game

She is hated mostly because of her comment about Lena D's aka WTA's Godness Lena D. ;)
I hate her too, especially after she switched her citizenship :p

After Dementieva retired, she stated "I'm glad she's gone," or something like that.

It's amusing how Putintseva is hated for that comment, 99% of people on here won't have seen her play so their views on her attitude is based more on hearsay. So what if she was happy that Dementieva retired, there is no rule which says people have to say wonderful things about Elena.

We should also remember that Elena herself came out with quite a few classless comments in her time, including how the Williams sisters fixed their matches and that it was a "family decision" about who would win, and I remember her making bitchy comments about Kuznetsova and Pierce as well. She was no angel either.

In the final against Kimiko in the third set when Kimiko was to serve for the match at 5-3, Putintseva went to her chair and changed her shoelaces or that what I think she did for at least for 2-3 minutes while Kimiko was waiting on the court to serve for the match.

Gamemanship, don't you think TBE?

How exactly do you know whether or not people have seen her play? She's been shown in several televised/streamed matches. That argument is really lame.

If anything I'm pretty sure the people who haven't seen her play are those who defend her, who apparently think it's cool/funny to support a girl who pretty much everybody else hates.

You are probably so wrong, I would say that those who don't like her have probably seen her play.
I've honestly never seen any match from her in which she didn't behave poorly.
Yes she is big fighter and has strong will which is needed to succeed but you can still have some class to go along with these qualities plus some basic respect for your opponent.
It's not mutually exclusive.

Calm down, guys. I don't think any of Yulia's fans disagree with the fact she's a brat on the court. But a player means more than just the attitude and I, myself, like her game and her determination a lot, plus the fact that her height and game resembles a lot my fave player in the game (who's pretty much hated as well). Actually, the fact that her attitude annoys so many people makes me like her even more

exactly. first I've actually never seen any proof Yulia really said that. What I understood is, she was supposed to wrote it on social network chat with her friend Sofia Kovalets = means it was almost certainly more of a joke than her real view on Elena (unless she has bad experience with meeting her)

second, even if she mean it, how come she's not entitled to have different opinion on Elena? I always loved and admired Elena too, but have absolutely no problem accept Yulia may not.

And third. yes NO ONE IS PERFECT, even Elena! So give Yulia a break, you sad creatures!

I don't understand why she would have anything against Dementieva tho. It's not like she's ever played her or something.

Otherwise, I have mixed feelings about her. I think she's a talented player, she has some variety, I like the fact that she's super feisty and never gives up, and that even though she's quite tiny, she doing better than most girls her age. I've watched her play a few times, and I could watch her live at RG against Malek, and even though she lost, she put on a good fight and I find her OTT celebrations and her hissy fits quite hilarious and entertaining.
But yeah, OTOH, there's this "psycho" thing about her that makes her both interesting and a bit scary. And about her brattiness, I think it's causing more damage to herself than to the others actally. Like, she's a bit ruining herself. I remember this year at RG, she lost that 3 setter against Tadde, and then I went to see other matches, and hours later when I left I saw her meandering around the tournament, headphones on, by herself, all in tears. It was like 3 hours after her match. I don't think she's a bad person basically, she just takes things WAY too close, in a sometimes scary way. And I don't think Mouratoglou will really help her on that aspect.... (God I hate this man :tape:).
So yeh. My humble point of view.

well writen:yeah: I've been there too, Yulia had the match in her hands several times in last set and I felt the same with her overractions. Yulia Putintseva has tantrum again, this time at U.S. Open during and after loss to Nicole Gibbs

Nicole Gibbs, an 18-year-old sophomore at Stanford and a qualifier in the Open girls' junior draw, advanced to the semifinals Friday, doing it with an abundance of fight and no less restraint, in the face of a racket-throwing, umpire-cursing, chair-busting opponent named Yulia Putintseva.

Putintseva, a 16-year-old Russian and the No.6 seed, has a history of temper tantrums and misbehavior and displayed both on Court 11 in perhaps the most boorish antics seen at this year's Open.

"She makes (John) McEnroe look calm," said one courtside worker.

A 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 loser, Putintseva threw her racket numerous times. She got a code violation for profanity and a point penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct from chair umpire Tim Kortt. She screamed and clenched her fist after Gibbs made an error, repeatedly made Gibbs wait to serve, refused to shake the umpire's hand after the match and then busted the back of her changeover chair with her racket before leaving the court in tears.

"It's obviously irritating - every time you lose a point there's some kind of ridiculous celebration," Gibbs said. "The first reaction is the street-fight reaction and to get in her face, (but) the cardinal rule of tennis is not to let your opponent get in your head."

Lew Brewer, director of the junior tournament, said a report would be filed with the International Tennis Federation on Putintseva's behavior.

Putintseva responded similarly when she finished as the runner-up in last year's girls' tournament, bolting from the court before the ceremony and reportedly telling an official, "It's not safe to be around me." At this year's Wimbledon she was also written up for a vulgar verbal outburst at a court official.

Putintseva, a player of considerable talent, left the grounds and did not respond to an interview request.

About the Pliskova sisters (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=22531047&postcount=12):

where is the thread about butterfaces? They would fit in perfectly.

About the hottest tennis player competition (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=22437006&postcount=21):

Schiavone, Suarez Navarro, Barthel and Kvitova in one group :haha:

About Ivanovic/Martinez Sanchez match at Wimbledon (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=21688658&postcount=24):

battle of the cheaters, too bad both can't lose.:o

Oh dear, seems you aren't so perfect after all. :awww: :wavey:

Goodbye.

On Watson beating Safarova (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=21146982&postcount=24):

oh yeah, that's my favorite result of the year so far.:aparty:

Always nice when those useless one stroke bashers gets spanked! Too bad Heather didn't serve her a bagel, would be even sweeter.

About Nadal (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=20526783&postcount=4426):

it was never a secret Nadal is gay..

About Safarova/Berdych breaking up (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=20498560&postcount=27):

Tomas finally realized, he can do way better.:yeah:

About Wozniacki at the YEC 2011 (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=20380859&postcount=25):

Anything preventing Pusher win, gonna be good basically..

On Oudin losing to Karatantcheva (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=20352357&postcount=26):

Oudin got trashed again somewhere? still lovin it:drool:

Putintseva isn't even that good...

BlueTrees
Dec 2nd, 2012, 05:50 PM
I think this post is quite funny from someone who's supposed to be defending Putintseva

On Shvedova beating Tanasugarn and playing Cibulkova next (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=20261519&postcount=28):

Keep trashing them, Slava. Midget next.

On Zakopalova losing to Arn (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=20014373&postcount=15):

Zakopalova is such an ultimate loser.

On Wickmayer/Van Uytvanck (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=19875091&postcount=22):

How is that surprise? Van Uyatvanck is a nobody and one close match with Mugmayer doesn't make her a future or anything.

And there are about 50 other insulting posts of other players. Most often making fun of their appearances.

So if you want to argue against us making fun of Putintseva, then maybe you should stop talking crap about 80 other players so you actually have some ground to stand on. The fact especially that you call Cibulkova a midget is even more pathetic and hypocritical when you're defending a girl even shorter than her.

Bye bye. Go back to drooling in the bikini thread :wavey:

And nice to see her back in TOP100 list.
http://www.wtatennis.com/page/RankingsSingles/0,,12781~0~1~100,00.html :rocker2:

No doubt 42yo is the oldest TOP100 record.
Kimiko've just updated by herself.

Also only 1970s born player now.
next oldest is Venus & Schiavone born in 1980, actually a decade younger. :tape:

exactly. first I've actually never seen any proof Yulia really said that.

So give Yulia a break, you sad creatures!

what does this mean, it was almost certain she is joking about hating her?

so are we supposed to believe, that person who has probably most hate comments about Yulia in whole TF, suddenly felt need to remind us, what a huge talent Putintseva is? Thats hypocrisy of highest order.

why is that hypocrisy? i know it's a concept too differentiated for most people on TF, but surely it is possible to see a player's talent and acknowledge her achievements and still not like her. or the other way round. doesn't have anything to do with hypocrisy.

Kimiko was celebrating her winning at turkish restaurant

True... I wonder what they talked. :oh:
I know they also talked a bit after Wimbledon's Venus match.
Roger was watching it and told her really liked the match & sorry for the lost but was so close...
