Any thoughts? And is there a chance of a second person doing it in 2013?

Vika almost did it this year...so it could be her to do it next year. Doesn't have much trouble beating Masha, so it's about learning how to beat Serena.

How many players have beaten Serena and Henin or Serena and Hingis?

Mr.Sharapova

No one is beating Rena and Maria at the same tournament ever again. The one who can come close to it is definitely Azarenka at AO or Kvitova at Wimbledon.

The Serena/Henin combo has been done a few times. I was actually preparing a thread a while ago about players who'd beaten 2+ players of the Top 5 of the 00s Generation in one tournament a while ago, but got bored...I shall see if I can dig it out.

Azarenka came within two points of doing it this year, she'll probably do it eventually.

How many players have beaten Serena and Henin or Serena and Hingis?
I remember Stosur beating Henin and Serena at FO 2010, and then choking miserably in the final. Oh Stosur.

Of course you are, you lack imagination to come up with a original idea for a thread so you have to copy somebody elses threads.

That's only because Serena goes on a rampage anytime she smells Maria near her in the draw. Like blood to a shark.

Great achievement by Dementieva. It reminded me of a similar or even greater achievement of Hana Mandlíková:

In 1985, Mandlíková became the first woman since Tracy Austin to beat both Evert and Navratilova in the same tournament when she beat the top seeded Evert in the semifinals and then the second seeded Navratilova in the three-set final at the US Open. :worship:

Nope. Maria is only losing to good players at the French Open so it won't be a random player but why not Stosur.

by the way Vika is the one who managed to lose in straights both to Masha and Serena on the same tournament

I think Linds was LA '04. Haven't a clue about the others

her gamestyle makes her burn out at every third tournament she plays... It's not the fault of her opponents that she needs 3 hours to beat Kerber

And the only players who've beaten the ACTUAL two best players of the generation in the same tournament:

Nathalie Tauziat - PARIS 2000
2R: def. Henin 7-5 2-6 6-4
F: def. Serena 7-5 6-2

Lindsay Davenport - US OPEN 2000
4R: def. Henin 6-0 6-4
QF: def. Serena 6-2 6-4

Kim Clijsters - WTA CHAMPIONSHIPS 2002
QF: def. Henin 6-2 6-1
F: def. Serena 7-5 6-3

Dinara Safina - BERLIN 2008
3R: def. Henin 5-7 6-3 6-1
QF: def. Serena 2-6 6-1 7-6(5)

Samantha Stosur - ROLAND GARROS 2010
4R: def. Henin 2-6 6-1 6-4
QF: def. Serena 6-2 6-7(2) 8-6

it's not a problem of game style , it's a problem of teenagers in pro sport

Sharapova was burnt out in third set of USO Semi, but i don't say that Aza's win is not legitimate at US Open
