Yeah don't see this as most searched worldwide. In Europe surely soccerplayers would top the list.

It reminds of Time magazine with lists like "100 Most Something People in the World" where 99% are Americans. Lists made by Americans only for Americans.
I bet if the list was done in India then majority would be cricket players, in Pakistan it would be goat chasers, in Canada hockey and curling, etc.

The list has completely no credibility.

Let's get a few things straight.

1) Lamar Odom is irrelevant as a basketball player. People search him because he's banging a Hodashian.
2) TO is a hot mess, has nothing to do with football. He had his own show.
3) Tim Tebow has Jesus.

Manitou

Surprisingly I heard of them all except the #1!
Tebow is the guy who prays in public all the time and internet makes fun of him.
But who is Manning? Something rings the bell.... Isn't he the footballer whose face appears in all sports stores?

How is it not credible? It's backed by empirical data representative of the market. The majority of that market may be the US, but Bing is global and has enough global traffic to support these types of lists.

One of NashaMasha's usual trolling attempts that Sharapova is more marketable/greater than Serena in this regard, which proceeds to expand to how irrelevant Azarenka is.

Must be an American-biased list.

If it was international wouldn't Chinese and Indian sports stars figure highly?

Yes, exactly! I don't speak Spanish, but the article contains much more relevant names than the list in this thread. Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi , Fernando Alonso, Iker Casillas, Lance Armstrong, Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadal. Much more relevant athletes than some local egg-ball players.

Yes, whoever does the research gets the results he expects.
