View Full Version : Will any of these players born in 1991 make it to top 20 or top 10?

Out of all 1991 born players only Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova managed to reach top 20 with her career high ranking of 13, currently she is 36th.
Can any other player of this generation get so high and who has most chance to achieve it?
Currently there are 11 players in top 100 born in 1991.

Not a chance. For any of them.

1. Nope. Sorry. Even though I'd love Bojana and/or Camila to make it. And from 1992 only Heather makes it. 1993- the year my douchebag younger brother was born- sucks in general. 1994 is a real deal.

2. This Martic photo...Breathtaking. Are there any more her photos likr that ?

I think that was from some croatian magazine and only that picture appeared online from that photoshoot.

Iīm pretty sure some of them will make it. Which of them, thatīs hard to say. They are young, all they need is a bit of luck in draws, some consistency and/or some fine result(s) in GS/mandantory tournament(s). Saying that nobody has a chance is nonsense, just look at Lepchenko/Makarova etc.

Agree. The odds that none of them will make it is very low. But as you say it is hard to predict which ones. I had a go and selected three I think have a decent shot but it could just as well turn out to be three others. I would say three is probably a pretty good estimate of how many will make it and give or take 1.

This is definately a thread that it would definately be fun to bump in say three years. :)

Who would have thought, that a Vavara Lepchenko would be able to enter the top 20 or Su Wei Hsieh the top 25.
Everything is possible with some good draws, solid results (some quaterfinals, a few third rounds in slams).

nice pics Andelko :spit:
Petra got a nice ass
Camila & BJ *hooker Alert*
Lesbolona
Vandeweghe :fail:

and no, none of them will make top10, 2/3 of them will be lucky enough to get in top20.

I think Martic and Giorgi got a shot, MAYBE Bertens. No other player though.

kiriosh.
Nov 18th, 2012, 12:09 PM
Martic has the biggest potential to be high. Polona can play only on clay, Giorgi is unpredictable. If she stabilize her game she will be really dangerous.
Bertens can be good in the future, but I haven't seen a lot of her matches.

BoJo of course. Others are irrelevant. :)

Mr. Polon Hercog looking good in that pic in the opening post btw.

Wow, it never dawned on me how collectively poor the 91's were. :help: Pavs definitely could make top 10 if she sorts her serve/fitness/head out. Maybe Martic top 20. I'd say that's about it..

Yeah, hopefully someone does it even if neither player makes it!

Also there are 8 players born in 1991 ranked from 100-200:
Ksenia Pervak, Olivia Rogowska, Mallory Burdette, Valeria Savinykh, Johanna Konta, Marta Sirotkina, Kurumi Nara, Yi-Miao Zhou.
Maybe one of those could achieve it. :p

Martic has a beautiful game :hearts: I would love to see her into the Top 20.

Bojo should play with a brain (sometimes she does that) and she would reach the Top 20 in No-Time.

Also Percog has a nice game to watch but I doubt that she will reach the Top 20.

First post on this forum so thanks for having me.

As someone born in 1991, I follow players born in 1991 a bit more closely to others.

So far, Oudin's achieved bugger all in terms of expectations.

Reckon Kiki will nudge top 20 (Nastia's already done that) with Camila, Polona and Ksenia not that far behind.

Valeria Savinykh could also go close.

Any chance Elixane Lechemia (born September 3 1991 like myself) will nudge top 100?

Can only see Martic. Maybe Bertens I agree with this. Martic has plateaued, which may be injury related, but she's got the game for Top 20. Its early for Bertens, but she's definitely got a lot of potential (played outstanding this week ) and she is the one I think could make Top 10. I would add Bojana as a maybe, but its a longer shot.

Top 20 maybe but I struggle to see any in Top 10 although I wouldn't have predicted Errani or Kerber as Top 10.

Pity 1991 is so poor it's my year of birth :sobbing:

The 1991-1992 were a real washout weren't they? 1991 is filled with players who broke through quite quickly and stagnated even quicker, and 1992 has pretty much only McHale and Watson who have done well at tour level.

There is an argument that could be made that it is harder today to get into the top tier at a young age than it was 10/20/30 years ago. The older players are much bigger, stronger, are fitter (most have conditioning coaches) and have more powerful equipment options than when the Grafs, Seles, Everts, Williams sisters were coming up.

If you look at the top 30, only 4 were born after 1/1/90( Kvitova, Woz Cirstea and Paszek) and of the top 15, a big majority were born in the early and mid 80s.

Some of the list could mature and get much better, surprising some of us. There could be others further down that could come out of the blue. Who would have ever thought about Kerber or Lepchenko two years ago and Errani was a journeywoman singles player for several years.

jovanovski is so hit and miss, bit i expect she'll end up with enough "hits" that she makes the top 20. she just needs a little bit more consistency, and she's got a top 20 game imo.

Most of us didn't know it besides junior results are not always all that indicative. Plus I'd take your comment more seriously had you written it a year ago and were not from Romania.
