Elina is 16 months younger than Mladenovic. So, yes, Elina is indeed the youngest "title" holder, if I am following your drift correctly.

Anyway, very disappointed Kimiko wasn't able to take this tournament but still she took home 117 ranking points and that's a pretty useful and helpful tally for a player who really does need every point she can get right now. Kimiko still has to more tournaments to play this year in Tokyo and Dubai. If she can play as well in those as she has this week she should at the very least get herself self a top 12 seed in the AO qualifying. And considering how many points she had to defend and a the form she had going into the last few weeks that would be damn good.

As for Elina, she's a talented girl and her breakthrough was just a matter of time. I rather wish it didn't happen this week but it did. Nevertheless I'm sure she will have a great 2013 and she will be a nice addition to the tour. Good luck to her. :yeah:

I thought you were refering solely towards these 125k events. But yeah, she might very well be the youngest active player with a WTA title if one considers this to be a WTA title. I think she is indeed.

Wow, well done Elina! Looking forward to see more of her in 2013! Can't believe that Taipei and Pune with Mladenovic and Svitolina were such a highlight for me in 2012 :worship: 125k rocks :D

Wait, is this an official WTA event? International?

It's 'WTA 125', a new tournament level introduced this year, barely above ITF100k.

Wait Pune counts towards the race to Istanbul 2013? :hysteric:

Seems like it counts, but previous 125K does not...Mladenovic is not "first" in race.

BTW- anyone remember bigger age gap in WTA final ?

Wait Pune counts towards the race to Istanbul 2013? :hysteric:

All tournaments that take place after Sofia count. Even $10,000 ones.
