Jovanovski arrived in Charleston and started training



Bojana Jovanovski has arrived early in Charleston and has already started preparations for the tournament. On the last few tournaments she did not make good results due to shoulder injury, but now injury is healed and she started hard training.

"I had a problem with my right shoulder so I was not able to train enough, and that was reflected on my results at the last couple tournaments. But now it's all behind me and I started to work hard to get back into shape where I was before the injury", Jovanovski told the reporters at Charleston this Sunday.

The Serbian is trying hard in her practice sessions to reach the height of perfection as far as her game is concerned.

"I am working really hard to improve my game with every single match and I won’t give up and end my hard work and practice until I start playing flawlessly”, Jovanovski said.

"I am putting all my efforts to prepare myself for the clay court season to get that flawless tennis out of me”, she added.

As far as the ongoing Charleston tennis tournament is concerned, the Serbian tennis player is seeded number two behind Michaella Krajicek.

Bojana has bye in the first round of tournament and in second will play against the winner of the match Sloane Stephens vs. Heather Watson.

The American is coming off of a second round defeat to Amelia Island runner up Serena Williams. Oudin had double bagelled Pennetta in the first round before falling 6-1 6-3 to Serena.

Melanie also had lost to the eventual doubles finalists, Kerber and Jovanovski in the first round 6-2 6-3, while partnering a fellow compatriot in Sloane Stephens.

Oudin was very upset that she could not find a doubles partner as she is new to the tour and is having trouble adjusting to her life on tour. She said, "I played Fed Cup the other week and was able to get a little closer with some of the Americans, and Sloane was practicing at Amelia Island so I just asked her if we could partner up and we got in last minute. I played doubles with Venus against Germany and we won pretty easily and it was a lot of fun, as she is a very good singles and doubles players, I mean she just took both titles this past week! (laughs) I would like to try partnering up with some new girls on tour to get to know them better and hopefully make some friends and improve upon my singles play. Im playing Maria (Sharapova) in the first round here so thats going to be a very tough match, but I do think it is winnable if I play well. I also just want to introduce myself to all the girls on tour in case they read or see this, (laughs and shakes head), although I doubt they have time to. I am looking forward to climbing up the ranks this year as I can only go up from here!! (grins) I really like giving interviews with you guys cause it makes me feel so popular and cool. I cant wait for play to begin and to find a new doubles partner. Thanks for your time!!"

Venus Looking For Singles Title #4 in Charleston

Venus Williams is coming into this event with 3 WWW Singles titles under her belt; Sydney, Memphis and Amelia Island along with 3 WWW Doubles titles; Indian Wells, Miami, and Amelia Island.
"It's been a great season so far, but I want more. I want to have a lot of clay success. Last week was a lot of fun winning both the singles and doubles titles, I want to keep doing it, you know."
Venus struggled a bit in Amelia Island, going to three sets 3 out of 4 times.
"As I said before the week began, it was going to be tough to switch surfaces from fast grass to slow clay. I wasn't expecting to win the tournament, I wanted to, but thought it would be incredibly hard to do. But here I am in Charleston, the only player on a winning streak."
"I worked on a lot of thing during the week in Amelia Island, that really payed off during my matches. I hope to keep building my confidence and game in this lovely town of Charleston before heading off to Europe."
In the first round, Venus has a bye. "I have a days rest before the second round. Which could be against my Fed Cup teammate Christina or my Fed Cup opponent Andrea Petkovic. So it should be interesting. I have hit with both before, so I know their games pretty well."
