In Venezuela, Hugo Chavez won another 6-year term as president of the oil-rich nation with official results showing the socialist leader garnering 54 percent of the vote. NBC's Kerry Sanders reports.

Updated at 8:35 a.m. ET: CARACAS, Venezuela -- President Hugo Chavez scored a comfortable election victory that could extend his rule to 20 years and vowed to deepen his self-styled socialist revolution after a bitterly fought race against a youthful rival who has galvanized Venezuela's opposition.

Tens of thousands of ecstatic supporters thronged the streets around the presidential palace in downtown Caracas, pumping fists in the air and shouting Chavez's name after the former soldier beat opposition candidate Henrique Capriles by more than 9 percentage points.

you can't compare north korea to venezuela. venezuela will actually inspire plenty of countries to go similar ways, especially it will inspire other latin american countries to escape the influence of the us. because what they see is not unattractive to them.

because its ruling elite didn't really care about it. they were racist towards their own people, among other things. they exploited both the country and the people. and they did it together with outsiders, first with the europeans and then with the americans.

each way it has nothing to do with chavez. venezuela had been underdeveloped before he came. the main difference was probably that the poor of venezuela had it worse back then.

Is your President now a scumbag too? I mean, he is smiling isn't he? :tape:

http://www.images22.com/pics/04/serzh-sargsyan-with-president-vladimir-putin.jpg

Oh and just yesterday!!

On October 7, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his 60th jubilee.

The letter states:

“Honorable Vladimir Vladimirovich,

I cordially congratulate You on the occasion of Your 60th birth anniversary.

I wish You good health and new success in Your state service for the benefit of the Russian Federation’s prosperity, further increase of its repute and role on the international arena.

I take this opportunity to once again express to You - a true friend of Armenia – the deepest gratitude for Your personal contribution to the strengthening of the Armenian-Russian allied relations which are developing steadfastly. It is important that the cooperation is of a strategic nature and the people of our two countries get constantly enriched by the joint programs held in the trade and economic, scientific and technical, cultural and humanitarian areas. I am confident that development of the interstate relations, based on mutual assistance and support, are in the interest of the peoples of Armenia and Russia and enhance stability and security in the South Caucasus.

I also highly appreciate our personal relations and I am confident that through our joint efforts the versatile relations between
Armenia and Russia will continue to move forward for the benefit of our two peoples.

I sincerely wish You, honorable Vladimir Vladimirovich, all the best and every success in Your work.”

So what was that again?

Good result :)

At least Chavez is making changes. You cannot make an ommelette without breaking a few eggs and what he is doing will pay off bigtime in the future.

The reason the worldwide media villianises Venezuala is because they know they'll be a power in years to come and it scares them.
