Latvian Escape

Jurmala, Latvia - The Latvian resort town of Jurmala is the host of a G2 FWTT Junior tournament where once again top seeds Xhakalinda Saikikimbondwe and Miranda Frost aim to exert their dominance over the tour. Looking to buck that trend and turn her debut season around is Puerto Rican Izabela Torres. An alternate in this year's draw she is faced with the daunting task of defeating her doubles partner Davae Bothavska just to earn a berth in the semifinals where she could potentially face first seed Saikikimbondwe.

With a paltry singles record of 4 wins and 9 losses so far in 2012, the task at hand is quite complicated. Coming out of two first round defeats, Izabela is looking to reclaim the form that go her through to the G2 Novi Sad final followed by a successful qualification and eventual semifinal finish in G2 Xiamen. As if the chips weren't stacked high enough, Izabela will be partnering with Miss Bothavska to save the indelible pair of Saikikimbondwe/Frost in the first round of the doubles main draw competition.

Xhaka seemed to be en route to win yet another singles title, however, Miranda saved four match points and took out the top seeded Swiss girl. Despite playing so many tournaments against each other, the two girls are still inseparable as best friends.
