yeah, so finally maria is back at "her" tournament, Seoul :yeah:

in the first round she has to play local player So-Ra Lee, no. 468 from the current rankings.
So that shouldn't be too difficult, I guess ;) It's their first meeting

The next opponent would be either paszek or suarez-navarro, the grass or the clay specialist.

all the best for your first matches there, Maria!! DAVAI :cheer:

..I just woke up to check the livescores...and Maria had to retire at 1-1 :bigcry:
I have no idea what happened, let's hope it isn't too serious..

Ok I chose the wrong time to open a tournament thread

That sucks so much for the Asian tour

some good news:

"According to the doctor's opinion, the injury is not that severe, so she does not need to change any of her next tournament." :)

so let's hope the best, kiri has still to defend lots of points in asia

Sad news about Kiri's back injury. That is a scary injury. Maria has played alot of tennis this summer and while she played well she punished her body playing alot of tennis with Olympic tennis jammed into the schedule. Now after she had knee issues at the U.S. Open she suffered a back injury in Seoul. Never heard of Kiri having back issues before. Masha has alot of tennis in her fairly fragile body in her 10 year WTA Tour career so she needs to be careful and not over play the rest of the year. I can't see Kiri making the top 10 this year now. :( Maybe it's time Maria saw the big picture and that's ending 2012 healthy and mkaing a serious run at the top 10 in 2013. Of course I hope her back injury is minor but she would have to have been in serious pain to quit her match. Maybe Maria never should have even tried to play that match because she now has a first round loss on her record.

On a side noter I sure wish Maria would travel with her own phsyical therapist because the only way Kiri can make the top ten and win titles again is if she continues to improve and if she stays healthy.
