Heather Watson joined the tour a little later than most of the girls, not making her debut until the P5 event in Dubai but she has made a bit of a splash on tour already.

Watson made the final in Tokyo in just her second event on tour and also finished runner-up in Memphis. With her wins so far this week, Watson has compiled a very respectable 13-5 match record for the season.

This week, Watson has overcome some great opponents to book her third final in the past six weeks. Watson had a tough 2nd round match-up against #6 seed Pennetta in the second round and was able to just edge her 6-4 in the third set.

World #2 Jovanovski beat Watson in the aforementioned Tokyo final, as well as beating her in Sydney, but this time Watson was out for revenge. Watson managed to win a tight first set 6-4 before Jovanovski hit back strongly to win the second set 6-1 and send it into a decider. It looked like the momentum was with the Serbian player but Watson really stepped it up from 1-1, going on a tear of 5 games in a row to take the match and book her spot in the final against Safina.

Watson said: "I am so happy right now. I lost to Bojana a few weeks back in my first final in Tokyo and again in Sydney so I was definitely up against today and she is a great player. I really tried to mix the pace up and take my opportunities today. I am really proud of that third set, coming back so strong after a disappointing second set"

"It feels great to be in another final and hopefully it will be third time lucky for me. I am playing Dinara who is playing great tennis right now - she won on her debut last week and is doing really well again this week. Hopefully I can hand her her first defeat. I'm also in the doubles final with Serena this week - playing doubles has really helped my singles this week I think, so I am glad Serena & I got a last minute wildcard entry!"

"Hopefully I will break the Top 10 with my results here this week which is good considering I missed the first few weeks on tour. I really feel like I can keep up with the top players and I hope to be up in the Top 5 soon enough."
