Pretty happy she is playing Dubai instead of Paris, cause she does well in the Middle-East. But why not Doha? she is unbeaten there, iirc.

wait, is this official? She will be playing Birmingham?

Obviously, wont give fucks about Charleston.

I' say

Brisbane
Austrlian Open
Dubai
Doha
Indian Wells
Miami
Stuttgart
Madrid (she could flop this honestly)
Rome
Roland Garros
Wimbledon (too tired to play a warm up unless the three weeks grass season is already for 2013)
Canada
Cinccy
US Open
Tokyo
Beijing
Istanbul

17 seems fine but she wouldnt play the full middle east swing if she wins the first one.

I think this thread is just speculation, but I think it's almost certain that she'll scrap indoor Paris. Paris is swapping weeks with Fed Cup and is now directly after AO.

I'd imagine her calender will be virtually the same as this year, except she'll now play a middle east event instead of Paris, and will return to Stanford with no Olympics. I think she'd favour Dubai over Doha, as Dubai is back to P5 next year and gives her a week off following R1 Fed Cup.

Definitely:
Brisbane
Australian Open
Indian Wells
Miami
Rome
Madrid
Roland Garros
Wimbledon
Cincinnati
Toronto
US Open
Tokyo
Beijing

Possibly:
Doha and/or Dubai
Stuttgart
Birmingham
Tour Championships (given she qualifies)

I'd rather her just vulture Paris Indoors than bother with Doha or Dubai TBH. And she needn't bother with green clay events either.

What are your views and thoughts on Maria's 2013 schedule

Thats 19 tournaments. No way she'll commit to that many, let alone play.
Since she can miss one Premier-5, Dubai is unlikely, especially if she plays FED Cup.
Also, the bolded 5 optional tournaments probably a bit much, Brisbane is no question as she wants a warm up before AO.
Playing both Charleston and Stuttgart is very redundant. One of them is more than enough. IMO she should not play any of that, a long clay season would drain her too much before Wimbledon once again. It depends on whats more important to her. And of course depends on her AO/IW/Miami too.
Birmingham... unlikely she'll ever play again, mostly because Claypova needs rest.

So, without Dubai, Charleston and Birmingham it would be 16 tournaments. Of course it is very possible she'll have more official commitments but then withdraws, just like she had Charleston this year.

Fighterpova
Sep 19th, 2012, 09:04 PM
IMO:

Brisbane
Aussie Open
(I can't see her playing in Dubai)
Indian Wells
Miami
Stuttgart
Madrid
Rome
French oOpen
Wimby
Toronto
Cincy
USO
Tokyo
Beijing
WTA Champs

That sounds about right. 15 tournaments is perfect.

Missing the US Open in 2010 was also extremely sad. She had a shot at going all the way had she played

I'm also curious as to whether she'll play Stuttgart again. I think she should because Stuttgart is basically tailor made for Claypova, but she was also pretty worn out mentally by Wimbledon. It's a catch-22.

Yes, and then she had to miss USO 2011 too. I think she had a great chance there, making the finals of the last slam and then winning Cincinnati but well, at least after winning the title in 2006 she made a good return in 2012 with a semis. :yeah:

 She played Dubai just once in her career but yeah she reached the final.
It's a shame she never played this tournament a lil more I know injuries/fed cup/ fucked her schedule over those last years but still, she can play really well on those courts I want her to play in Dubai/Doha a lil more.

As for clay season, she should stick to this year I agree and maybe skip Madrid who is completely useless.

Am I the only one who still hope that she'd consider playing Birmingham, after her win in RG 2013? (Who else is there? :oh:) She doesn't even have to win it, just want some decent grass prep for Wimbledon. What's the rule on Olympic eligibility? Is it 2 ties for all 4 years prior to 2016 or just 2 ties for 2015 and 2016? Just trying to figure out if Maria (potentially) not playing next year means she doesn't want to qualify for Rio or if she's just being Lazy-American-Pova.

She had to commit Doha since its Premier-5 and she would lose the year-end bonus money. Still chance she wont play, although 5 weeks between AO and IW looks unnecesseraly long. She doesnt care about Zero pointers & rankings of course, but the money, boy, the money... :oh:

Also this means she can skip one of the Tokyo/Montreal/Cincinnati trio.

LMAO at her committing to that useless Middle East event...:haha: Also it's good to see her doing a full red clay schedule again - the more matches she has on red dirt going into French, the better. Clay is not damaging to your body as much as these slow azz hardcourts at the start of the year, so I'd really like her to skip or tank some HC event in order to preserve her body for clay and grass season.
