Serena is better in every aspect of the game and is on fire. Serena in 2 quick sets, 45 minute match.

Serena in one tight and one semi-tight set. Ana will definitely make it competitive, especially if her serve and forehand are clicking. She always plays better when playing the superior players.

Proof that you haven't watched tennis since your two faves Justine and Jelena retired* and that you only post on this board to make yourself look stupid.

If Ana won this I might faint with delirium, but I am a realist and I know Serena's going to win and probably in straights.

As long as Ana can make it somewhat competitive I will be happy.

But, seriously, with the way Serena is playing, how can you bet against her?

I know Serena is the out and out fave but I hope Ana does well and builds on this great tournament for her.

Serena will win and win easily, 6-1, 6-2 i'd fear and expect. Serena will win this US Open without dropping a set. Just way too good

This poll seems too easy... So if serena is in a bad day (few chances) and if Ana is suddenly at her peak (although she's so skinny :help:)... There could be a surprise

Serena will win only 5, or even less games!
Ana will beat her with something like 2-5 ret. result.

I hope playing Rena fires her up and she can put together a good display.

It's not about winning, because Ana doesn't have much of a prayer, it's about coming around from that double bagel in Montreal.

The thing is Serena was so focused against Hlavackova, that it's scary, because usually she wavers against lower ranked opponents. So, i expect her to remain focused on this match.

Good luck Serena!

Serena is gonna win. Something like 6-3 6-3. She is gonna be not to pleased she lost in dubs tonight. She'll be focused for Ana. Keep in mind this is still Ana.....Ivanovic.

If Serena plays like she did today or even 70% of today's level, Ana has no chance. No. Chance.

But if Serena shows up unfocused and just expects that Ana will lay down it will be..., competitive.

Even if Ana could get the upper hand, it is highly likely she would crumble mentally in the closing stages of the match. Her game is just too volatile.

I fully expect Serena to come out and stomp her. She is going to pulverise her backhand with big serving and backhand to backhand rallies which will set up the shorter ball which will allow Serena to put away the point and effectively take Ana's forehand away from her.

Ana to make it competitive

But how do you expect Ana to "make it competitive" with a first serve percentage of 48% in her last match? Serena will just punish her off both wings. There is a very reasonable possibility of a bagel in one or both sets, from what I can see.

Serenka in 3

Ana will come out swinging freely and surprise Serenka by taking the first set, but Serenka will up her level and wrap it up in 3

Ana can only win if Serena sustains an injury  No other way can I see Ana getting a win so Serena in 2 sets. I think maybe 6-4, 6-2.

Serena in 2, but Ana always brings it against her so I'm expecting some drool-worthy forehand to forehand exchanges.

justineheninfan
Sep 5th, 2012, 06:20 AM
I dont think it was a wise move on Ana's part to explicably state she was looking for revenge before the match. Of course I dont blame her for pysching herself up to be confident, no matter how incredibly challenging that must be to do with Serena's current form and Ana's lowered spot in the current game, believing she can win, and not backing down to Serena. However Serena only gets charged up by those type of challenges or incentives from her opponent. Just look at how she plays Maria ever since Maria (or more her fathers) antics in the 2004 WTA Championship final. Henin was the only one to ever scorn Serena in a big way and come out unscathed thereafter, but she had the luck of often playing Serena either on clay where she is so dominant, or in 2007 which was in general her dominant year all around.

Even Serena hasnt ever come right out and say she wanted revenge on opponents even in the case of some controversial acts or major upsetting losses even when it is obvious she does feel that way, she lets her play do the talking, yet Ana outside the top 10 for years now feels brave enough to throw such a gauntlet down pre match. Well good luck to her, she will need it in an even bigger way now I predict.

No, but she simply says "I have nothing to lose", and then goes on and reek havoc on the opponent; not only making her the lose the match, but her self esteem and pride
