 The first set was comedy gold, Petra unforced after unforced. Alize had her chances at 4*-3 40-15 since then never recovered again.

Losing 7 games to Cornet is blasphemous for a top 10 player TBH. :tape:

 Yeah I was annoyed when I made this and made it quickly, I didn't even work on it that much, I didn't want to put a sig for a start but kind of resigned finally for fun. :oh: Didn't even remark that, I'll add her plus there are other players I really need to add too like Christina etc. Your 'eagle's eyes' are awesome Moose. :hatoff:

Krott !!
I'm really happy she got over her "breathing problems" bullshit (translation : lies and excuses) and just decided to grow up and actively compete.

all this is nonsense.
no attacking play Cornet's. once an score becomes critical, Kvitova has added strength. Alize not had a one chance when Petra played well.

is it so hard to admit?

Cornet is still much to work on his game. If she will not attack and play itself, her no help nothing against top-20 players.

Didn't see it, but a straight set win is a straight set win

Good luck in the third round.

Petra's a special kind of top player with a relatively low margin for error. She plays to win and not to deliver beatdowns.

I still remember how some people claimed that Azarenka would win the Istanbul final because she had easily straight-setted Stosur, while Petra had needed three sets.

Thanks. What I really like about these stats is the netplay. I can't remember a match where Petra's opponent recorded more netpoints. Thank God there's a WTA player that goes to the net as frequently as she does. :yeah:

Petra is a lock for the QFs but that'll be it for her. She's been far from impressive and looks exhausted. Sharapova will have a walk in the park during that (inevitable) meeting.

Petra seems like she's trying to conserve energy (and/or experimenting) the first few rds, by going for it against the scrubs; so she can save the protracted rallying for latter rounds.

Now I caught this thing from 5-4 first set (Petra). So I didn't see everything yet. But after Petra won the set, she was just teeing off on Cornet's serve after Petra got early service leads in them.

Eventually Cornet held on some, but you can tell Petra always knew she could hold her serve or break Cornet anytime she felt she wanted to.

I'll watch the rest of the match later on ESPN 3 to see the entire first set.

Onward.

I know, but still.

Good point.

I saw the second set. And I can agree, Petra should of/could of won it 6-0 or 6-1.

She was in every Cornet service game. But my theory (as I said earlier), is that Kvitova was trying to conserve energy in the earlier rds against the scrubs, "by just going for it".

Then Petra would play measured tennis/and or break Cornet when she needed to (if the quick strike wasn't working), cause she knew she could always hold her serve, almost at will.

That's what I've seen so far.

But I agree, Cornet was dreadful, though you never know what you're going to get from a player from match to match. Look at Li Na (down 4-0 at one point in the second set), and of course, Clijsters.

Which wall? Parmentier? If you mean Sharapova, neither of them is in QF yet.
