Well, Julia should win that match, Pliskova is not totally useless but Julia has to reach 3rd round here, everything else would be disappointing.

Pliskova isn't the easiest qualifier but Julia playing decently shouldn't have problems getting the win.
I'm still a bit nervous though after her recent performances. :unsure:

She didn't have any kind of dynamic and most of her matches she was thriving on mediocrity or just average play -- well, don't know what to say lol.

To be honest, 2011 was even worse where she had three 1st round losses (Stanford, Carlsbad, Cincinatti) and a 2nd round defeat against Baltacha right before the USO. At least she managed to reach the 3rd round back then..

In her defense, Rittner said she had some problems with injuries after the olympics. Charlieflip also mentioned that here (http://www.tennisforum.com/showpost.php?p=22053950&postcount=92). So, let's go easy on her ;)

This was not a surprise, was it? She may have had a few injuries lately, but in general, the whole 2012 has been a dissapointment

Well, it could have been worse. She could have been out of top 50. She could have also been ranked much higher, given that she lost a lot of tight matches.

Doing well in dubs at least. A tough QF coming up, those two Italians are in great form as evidenced by their QF singles showings. Of course they will also be a bit more tired because of singles, but I think the form offsets that, plus I think those Italians are very fit.
