Unlike Sharky and Eggy, I would love to see Lina Krasnoroutskaya and Maria Sharapova qualify and have to play Anastasia Myskina and Elena Dementieva in the first round of Oz! :D Why? Because Anastasia and Elena, especially Elena, need to take a glimpse of the future! :eek: And I think Lina and Maria have very good tennis futures! :bounce: I for one would love to see Sharapova play Dementieva in the first round and see if Elena could somehow avoid being torn to shreds by "The Siberian Tigress"! :eek: The pressure on Elena would be great! But maybe that's what she needs because she is an underacheiver at this stage of her tennis career. Myskina is doing better than Elena. But I would still love to for her to have to play Krasnoroutskaya in the first round! The pressure on Anastasia would be great! And I for one am wondering whether she could handle it.

With all the female Russian tennis players on the WTA Tour, and more on the way, fans of Russian tennis are going to have to get used to the Russian girls, and even their favorites playing each other.

I just hope Lina and Maria don't dampen my interest in Oz by losing their third round qualifying matches and thus miss entering the maindraw! :( That would be terrible!

pretty disappointing Day 1 :(

3 wins and 4 losses with 3 of them pretty avoidable :mad: :(

biggest disappointment has to be Elena Likhovtseva, basically she just handed it to her opponent on a plate :mad: :rolleyes:

dunno what happened to Zhenya either in sets 2/3 total meltdown :mad:

Anna finally won a slam match :D , now she has to pick it up by another 50% at least.
Nadia was in cruise control :bounce: , hope her shoulder stands up for rd 2, she has a pretty good shot of beating Ai (much depends on her serve).

Disappointed with Dinara... she's perfectly capable of beating Srebotnik and should have done so :mad:

Elena L... :rolleyes: she either turns up or she doesn't, and it seems that she didn't today.

Sveta put up a decent performance against Venus, nothing to be ashamed of.

Woo-hoo for Anna and Nadia :bounce: and by all accounts it seems that Daniela H played pretty badly, so if the shoulder holds up Nadia's got an excellent shot at the QF...
