I've been away from this thread for a bit. I just didn't know
if Lindsay would ever be back in the spirit of 1998. Well...
saw the entire LD vs PIN match on tv today; and I BELIEVE
again. LD played with the sort of confidence that she hasn't
really shown us since ...er..a long time!!! She was totally
cool as a cucumber, poker face- it was great. Fred Stolle
was going on about how she has split with Robert Van't Hoff,
and is now coached by Leach. I guess she's really gone on
to a new part of life, and career.
Things look brighter, and brighter for us LD supporters.

Hi Italia Lindsayfan,
She played great. Didn't see much shoulder slumping.
It was more like classic 1998 Lindsay- in that she wasn't
as self critical as she was last year. LD played the point;
then just moved onto the next shot. She played really
quickly; like there was a microwave oven somewhere that
needed to be turned off. Hehehehe. There really wasn't
any point of the game where she lost interest nor concentration.
Sometimes- too easy of a match makes top players get bored.
The tv camera's didn't really show too much of the d
in the seats. Didn't see any Leaches; but they look
kind of average so maybe I missed it. :)

Good luck for the next round

Congrats Lindsay for a very great match, though I dont like your attitude towards the first set. You blew again another 7 set points.
Anyway, I'm very happy the way you played the third set with iroda playing at her best too. The old Lindsay fighter is back in the third set!!!!! YES!!!!!! Its true Lindsay passion is back. She is really here to win the AO. Thats her main goal.
Next on the line of casualty, Tatiana Panova.
Jan 15th, 2003, 07:28 AM
OMG!! Her, Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick are giving me heart attacks! I don't know whether I'm gonna last the two weeks!
PLEASE LINDSYA! MAKE IT TO THE SEMI'S SO I CAN SEE YA PLAY IN MELBOURNE!!
Hell, win the whole damn thing if ya can! :D
Jan 15th, 2003, 08:04 AM

but congrats for winning a great match! :D
Jan 15th, 2003, 09:36 AM
Congrats Lindsay! I'm asshamed to say I slept through my wake-up call so I didn't get to see the match if it was on eurosport and if it wasn't I was gonna watch the scores on the AO website. I will watch the next match though ;)
Jan 15th, 2003, 10:15 AM
Oh my GOD what a match it was today. Damn it!
Iroda was the playa today. I've spoken before about how
great she was in those smaller obscure tournaments that
somehow only get shown in Europe, and here in Singapore..
LOL. I loved the fighting spirit she gave this match.
LD? I just wanted to start poking her in the ribs to get
her act together. I suppose she heard, and knows that
the Iroda game is kinda raw, untamed, sort of like a much
more talented Alexandra Stevenson. It just seemed like
our LD was waiting for Iroda to head to the Japanese
Inn( Ryokan) and start folding up that futon.
Ok- it was close...too close. Glad to see Iroda gain a
whole new crew of supporters. I really could've lived
with the idea of LD losing; only because Iroda is talented,
and such a nice girl. Thank you LD for coming up with the
goods- WE NEED YOU IN THE last two rounds. :)
P.S Still didn't see any Leaches in the stands. I guess
even the television cameramen can't recognize a Leach
Jan 15th, 2003, 10:27 AM
camera just didnt show them...
Jan 15th, 2003, 06:43 PM
Great win for Lindsay. Absolutely delighted that she managed to pull it out, tough match.
Nice one Lindsay but if you make it to the final then im affraid a few of us may not get to see it, cos Im sure I'll be in intensive care on a heart monitor by weekend if I have to go through that again on Friday!!!

I'm sick and tired of the bullsh8t that everyone
who thinks they're a tennis expert is spewing about
the so called "weak body language" of Lindsay.
ENUFF ALREADY! Sheesh! I don't know where..
(maybe it's an very, very ugly American thing)
it says that a tennis player has to act like an ARSEHOLE,
and swagger, sass, hissy fit, etc...to show he/she
is cares. Look Lindsay isn't a ...Williams, Hewitt or
Roddick with their rooster strutting, and crowing during
a match. It's just isn't Lindsay style- she won't
"bark a swear word at the opponent" to intimidate.
It is not her style. If she get's upset it's a an internal
personal issue; mainly with herself.
Rarely does Lindsay give away very personal information;
so who says that she has NO CONFIDENCE or SPRIT nor
DRIVE to win?
Sorry..I just had to get it off my chest.
Jan 16th, 2003, 01:27 AM
the body language she was expressing on court yesterday was shocking - of course getting a racquet abuse violation even helped the matter <g>
The Leaches are definitely here - I saw them sitting next to each other - it actually cracked me up because Jon was wearing this long sleeved shirt in 30+ temperatures <g> it's like just put a t-shirt on :)
Unfortunately I didn't get any shots :( because I didn't feel it was right to take a shot when they were sitting about 10 metres away from me in the players area (they were watching Venus' match for about 20 mins then left to go to Lindsay's match)
She's playing doubles today with Lisa - so best of luck there.
Also best of luck against Panova tomorrow - she better improve yesterday's performance by about 500% or she's in deep trouble!
