Lordrena first, Beysus second.

Jul 27th, 2012, 02:46 AM
LordRena above all others. And it's not even close. :sobbing: I have never stanned so hard for any other person the way I have Serena, nor have I ever strayed in my fandom (even through 2005-2007 :tears: ). 13 years of stannery. YAS.

Jul 27th, 2012, 04:37 PM
All my fave tennis players > Avril Lavigne, Leona Lewis etc.

Jul 27th, 2012, 06:07 PM
Tennis players. The fact that they are more likely to get injured than my favorite artist makes me care about them more.

Jul 29th, 2012, 08:55 AM
And I forgot about Steffi, who was my everything when I was a wee gay. But I'm not sure she counts as she has been retired for over a dozen years now. :tears:

Sir Stefwhit
Jul 29th, 2012, 09:31 AM
Stefwhit = Steffi Graf and Whitney Houston

I don't know how to answer that question. In my youth but had monumental influence and they both brought so much joy and happiness. Tennis just isn't the same w.out Steffi and neither is the world w.out Whitney. Luckily the music lives on and thanks to my collection of DVDs and YouTube I can re-live all my Steffi moments.

I don't really have a favourite artist.

All my time is pretty much taken up worshipping Dani

Favourite tennis player is retired.
Favourite artist is semi-retired.

Followed the career of fav tennis player for 4 yrs.
Followed the career of fav artist for 26 yrs now.

Would like to meet my fav tennis player. (Well, at her peak anyway. Maybe not so much now.)
Would not like to meet my fav artist.

What tennis means to me is mostly entertainment. A spectator sport which I unfortunately never got to play.
What music means to me is a much deeper connection, that doesn't need identification with the people making the music. It helps but I don't have to know them or about them.

Favourite tennis player is physical.
Favourite artist is soul.

I do care more about my favorite tennis player.

Well music matters to me way more than tennis and Ray Davies would be a hero to me far more than any of my tennis faves ever could be.

Actually I just heard in the last couple of hours that one of my musical heros, Bill Doss of The Olivia Tremor Control died yesterday. The Olivia Tremor Control were one of the greatest bands ever. They released two of my top 5 alltime favourite albums and played the best gigs I have ever seen in 2005 in London and then in New York in 2006. I saw them again this year at the ATP festival and they were still brilliant.

So yeah, very upset about this and yes, I would say Bill Doss means more to me than any tennis player I can think of. :awww:

For those who haven't heard of him, he combined melodic Beatlesque tunes with incredibly inspiring psychedelic passages and did it all in a way that was fun, adventuous and at the same time full of warmth. He was also in my experience a very friendly down to earth individual who genuinely loved and lived for music too.

This is an example of the music The Olivia Tremor Control make. Bill Doss is the singer with the cool orange shirt.

R.I.P. Bill and thanks for the music

Tennis players, I can't really think of one artist in particular that would be my favourite..

Aug 1st, 2012, 09:57 AM
Player by far. Many 'artists' I thought were great when younger I now can't listen to and don't even think about. But I never forget the magic moments of my favourite players and matches. I have many 'I was there' memories!

How do you guys compare such things?
I am interested in what they both do, and I love what they do, but how on Earth am I supposed to compare music and the game of tennis?
