It's so weird and nasal now. She's always had a distinctive voice but it's never been this extreme.

I noticed this too. It is hard to tell if it's intentional or not, but "Spirit Indestructible" has a good chorus :) .

Yeah, that's what I wondered when I first heard 'Spirit Indestructible'

Her voice's gotten unbearably nasal and whiny! Not that she has a beautiful voice in the first place anyway

She recently did a live acoustic cover of Calvin Harris' "Feel So Close" that is fantastic. I wish her voice sounded more like that than in the studio versions of her new singles.

:hysteric: she sounds worse than Lana Del Rey on SNL.

At least she doesn't sound like Gwen does these days.

That is not possible.

she's always been quite nasal, but i think on this new song there's also something very strident in her voice (maybe because of the bad production). very unpleasant.

As long as she's still got that ass, I couldn't care less.

Her voice during a live performance of her first single was even more nasal and weird sounding. :o

I actually liked the first 58 seconds of her new song. Shame about the rest.

She has always had a tone of nasality in her voice. People are just gauging her voice now to when she sang songs like Say It Right and a lot of songs from Folklore, where she delivered pitch perfect vocals everytime. She's still able to sing without this much nasality:

Starts at 7:01.

Some of her hit songs like Maneater were quite nasal too, but yeah on her last two singles she's really taking it to the next level in terms of nasality. Nelly said herself it's because she wants the songs to have emotional vocals and not necessarily perfect vocals. But the nasality seems to be turning a lot of people off.

I agree, to me I find her somewhat unbearable now and find TSI really hard to listen to. :help:

She sounded so much better last time.

She sounds like a dying goat but I somehow like the song, it's catchy.
