..and that is the problem. :tape:

I almost have more confidence in her winning a final against Sharapova than I have in her make it. :tape::hysteric:

This is Stosur's section to win, really, which likely means she'll fuck it up. Cibulkova in three.

I would maybe pick Domi based on their results, but if you actually look at the players it's gonna come to down to:

Sam's great kick serve + Domi's height = Stosur win

The Gods of protecting the cleaness of the Top Ten that have prevented Peer and Cornet from entering must now work overtime to stop currently 11th ranked Cibulkova. The cleaness of the top ten cannot be tainted any further. Na Li do your job, till Scrubulkova´s Wimbledon points come off.

If it continues to be as damp as this, then Cibulkova might have a chance. If it dries up, as others have said, Stosur's shots will simply be bouncing too high for Cibulkova to have a chance.

If Stosur's serve is working then she'll end up winning in two. If not I can see Domi taking it into three but with Sam still winning.

Extremely demanding match for Cibulkova. The conditions in RG are well suited for Stosur, even today with the slower conditions on court 1, the balls picked up top spin like crazy. Cibulkova needs a perfect timing for coping with the kick serve and hope for many Stosur DFs, and she needs to work a lot on the baseline, not getting pushed back by the tremendous top spin.

You can exploit Stosur's weaknesses, I'm just not sure a fragile hitter like Cibulkova will be able to walk on the knife's edge long enough to grind two winning sets out of Stosur ...

Sam would have to play very bad to lose against Dominika... Not because she's extremely better or anything just because of the game they play.

if Stosur really such a ridiculous match-up player, this should be hers.

Hopefully Domi. She's in great shape. I hope that she'll exploit Stosur's weaker backhand and mediocre movement, unless the Aussie totally overpowers her.

Should be a good match, sort of David vs. Goliath.

They both seem to be players who do their best when they're the underdogs and sometimes blow it in big matches that they're supposed to win, so I think that bodes well for Domi in this case :) Plus I think Domi has just been playing better so far. She may need a slight bit of help from Sam just to make up for height and power issues, but I definitely think this is more winnable for her than a lot of people think. And plus if she wins this she'll reach the Top 10 for the first time ever, so she's got some extra motivation. Go Domi! :bounce::inlove:

Domi cannot play better. I like her. Sam doesn't play very well since the begining of Rolland Garros, so I think she will improve and win this match and maybe somme more.

From the way Sam played against Stephens, this may well go to three sets

They've only met once - on HC - at Stanford in 2009.

Cibulkova's height will definitely put her at a huge disadvantage against the Stosur serve, but then again she takes the ball early enough to compensate for that unlike many of the other average-height girls who have no idea what to do against it. We'll see.

Funny to think back to 2009 when they were both supposedly "fluke" RG SFists. How they proved everyone wrong.

I doubt that Cibulkova has a chance at all. Stosur can only beat herself.

My guess: Stosur wins 6-3 6-1

This! You're the first person I've read mention the weather and how it impacts on Sam's game. One of the reasons her game wasn't impressive against Sloane was the weather too. The colder, damper weather means the ball doesn't bounce as high thus not giving Stosur much advantange to her serve and forehand.

Hot, dry clay = Stosur ClayGOAT. The weather will make a big difference to how easy the matches turn out for Sam over the next week.

Depends on how much she suffers from the nerves too lol....it is Stosur we're talking about after all.

Sam got her bad match out of her system yesterday, so I don't expect her to have too much trouble against Domi. She won yesterday with one of her two big weapons (her forehand) hardly firing at all, so when she gets that sorted she will be too much for Domi to handle on this surface. Sam in 2 routine sets.

Ahh... 2009. Safina is gone now and Kuznetsova can't play more than one great match. How times have changed.
