One is going for her 2nd GS SF
One is going for her 1st

Errani hasn't beaten a top ten player till now.
Anything can happen

Kerber with ease.

The match will probably be very looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg as both don't really make any UEs.
Kerber will have to deal with another player who has amazing net play again, will be an interesting match I believe.

Easy victory for Errani in two sets. She is going to feed on Kerber's puffball serves.

Doesn't really matter, whoever wins this is gonna fall in the semis. Great result for both though.

I think Errani will win this, but here is a fun fact that would have gotten you into a straitjacket, if you predicted it twelve months ago. Kerber is one win away from overtaking Wozniacki in the WTA rankings. She must have trailed her by 9000 points at the same time last year. :sobbing:

Grand slam QFs and Sara Errani should never be in the same sentence again.
Please Kerber beat that turtle (no offense, literally).

Jun 3rd, 2012, 11:16 AM
I think Kerber but it's mainly because I can't picture Errani in a Slam semi.
It's clay, Angie hasn't been too impressive in the tournament this far and Errani is obviously in form.
But if Angie plays well, she's got this.

Go Angie :cheer:

People are being pressed about their faves not being able to reach that quarter. Poor girls have some big fanbases against them (Ivanovic, Venus, Radwanska, Kuznetsova...)

it will be a balanced game.

Errani has a lot of variety in her shots, and im pretty sure kerber will trouble with that.

Worst Grand Slam Quarterfinal ever.

Bartoli vs Krajicek at Wimbledon a few years ago seemed like that. Both were lowly ranked. But then Bartoli went on to beat Henin in the SFs. And then went on to be a top 10 player. So don't assume things too early.

Angie really tries to play good on clay, but it's more than clear that clay is her worst surface (well I haven't seen her playing on grass yet :oh:).

But still, Angie in 3.

Just have a look at some opponents that the girls you named defeated to reach their respective GS QF:

Roland Garros 2005:
Likhovsteva def. Dementieva (4) in 4R
Karatancheva def. V. Williams in 4R

Wimbledon 2007:
Bartoli def. Jankovic (3) in 4R
Krajicek def. Chakvetadze (8) in 3R

So yes, according to those results, you can see that they were playing very well and they truly deserved to reach the QF's. As for Errani and Kerber, they have not been especially impressive this week. They only defeated injured or nowadays irrelevant players.

Boy do I wish this was a SF. Arguably 2 of the top 6 players this year behind Maria, Serena, Vika and Aga.And Kerber is 5th in the race to YEC, Errani 9th. Expecting a match similar to Kerber/Pennetta.

Good girl.

Why do you defend your nonsense instead of just correct it?

Going deep in a tournament is about winning repeatedly.
It is no indicator at all who the best player is that you eliminated.

If you dont believe me ask Razzano or Kusnetzova and all the others.

Based on clay court play, I'd actually say Errani.

But then I think Kerber will hold her nerve better and has a great 3 set record. So, I'm going to go with Kerber in 3 sets

I love this quarterfinal.

Just 10 months ago Angie was ranked outside the top 100. At the start of the year, 5 months later, Angie was ranked 32nd in the world and the 4th ranked German. Today, 5 months later still, she is indisputably the best German player in the world and ranked top 10.

Sara began the year ranked 45, at the time she was the 4th best Italian. After this tournament she will be ranked top 16, and only a handful of ranking points away from being the Italian number 1, and that's if she loses. A top 15 ranking and the status of being the best Italian player in the world are now inevitable.

Both Kerber and Errani will finish this tournament ranked in the top 8 of the race rankings too.

Simply these are the two most improved players of the year, and it is fitting that they are both still competing in this tournament at the quarterfinal stage.

Who do I think will win? I don't know. Slight edge maybe to Angie but I'm not sure. Who do I want to win? I'd be delighted if they could both go through. Don't really care, hope the winner keeps it going.

Kerber was not convincing so far but I just have the feeling that she likes Errani's game. She shouldn't have a problem.

But I still feel so bad about Ivanovic - what a chance for another Roland Garros final :(

This is a cracking QF and in all honesty don't really mind how it goes.

Can't get away from the memory of Laura Robson and the crowd conspiring to dismantle Angie at Wimbledon last year and for that reason as much as any I take Sara to win.

Actually, although I don't wish it, considering the way she's been playing throughout the tournament, I don't think anybody can beat Errani. She's been playing with great confidence, making few errors and executing her game plan to the letter. Neither Stosur, nor Sharapova is playing like her. So brace yourselves for an Errani RG champion 2012.:speakles:
