And now she is playing Top 50 tennis again (against Arvidsson it was very good, today it was enough)
Did she have injuries or even motivation problems?

Didn't watch it, but I'm thrilled Yari won and made the RG 4R again. Should be an interesting match against Li.

Good first set from Shvedova looked rather tired in the second set. Not sure how much she has left for the next round. You could tell how much it ment to her after the winning point.

If she could play at the level of the first set she has the ability to be top 10 in the future. Great movement, good net play and massive forehand needs to get more from the serve.

Yes. After such a good year for her (2010) she got a serious injury in Hopman Cup 2011 and she did a surgery. She struggled a lot after that and couldn't find her best tennis or any confidance in her game.

Yes. I am sure I have never seen Slava cry after winning a match before but she has come such a long way in this tournament. And after 18 months in the wilderness it really must feel like a dream to suddenly be back in the big time and in the final 16 of a Grand Slam. But it's so deserved.

Slava dominated the 1st set and Carla was just a spectator really. I the 2nd set Carla raised her game and got more agressive. She got better as the set went on and played excellent tennis to go from 1-4* to 5-4*. But Slava did a fine good battening down the hatches and played the last 3 games very well. Two shots that just missed each of the lines in the 11th games proved very costly for Carla.

Slava is now ONE SINGLE MATCH away from qualifying for the Olympics in singles as well as doubles. Won't be easy but Slava is a confidence player and right now she has a lot of it. I can't wait til Monday. :bounce:

Agree. Carla was definately to passive in the 1st set but she did raise her game and play more aggressively in the 2nd. But of course with more aggression comes more errors and some of those at the end of the 2nd set did prove very costly. But to her credit she did change her game and try something different after dropping the 1st set.

Carla played well in the second but it´s a brainless and very low confidence.
Slava was a bitch in some parts of the match, celebrating the Carla´s UE and mistakes. But i understand her situation and the importance of this match.
