Will GOAT-Sur repeat her 2009/2010 efforts or will the American teen continue her best ever Slam form?

SS or SS??

Unless Sam misplaces her brain over the weekend (always a possibility:lol:) she will win this in two easy sets.

Sloane usually crumbles against the top players. I hope this is her breakthrough.

should be a straight forward win for Stosur

Sloane needs to not let Stosur see 1 damn forehand and try to protect her serve as much as possible. btw Sloane every forehand YOU see, you should bludgeon!

I think Sloane has a genuine chance to win this if she implements the same gameplan that Schiavone and Dulko did, as she certainly has the tools to pull it off. Obviously this requires Sam to not be in peak "hitting dtl winners off the bh" form though.

Sunday most likely

Anyone who voted for Stephens care to elaborate on why's she's going to win? Don't think so myself, Sam in 2.

Sloane played her draw and did a good job to make the second week, but I think Sam might win this.

I know its highly unlikely but I voted Sloane in 3. No reason other than the fact that I don't like Sam plus Sloane is an American:)

She’ll be the last American standing and ergo the last to fall. To get to the round of 16 is a triumph for Sloane but it is the end of the road..

Because she's black or because she's American? Either way, ignorant post.

I'm not sure. Sloane has a big game and she doesn't really get overpowered. She can do pretty much everything well. We'll see. I think Sam will win in 2 sets, but I wouldn't be TOO surprised if Sloane made it competitive or won.

Stosur's playing well and playing Petrova is good preparation for later stages in the slam. I still don't like her though.

I hadn't seen too many of Sloane's matches either, but I watched a few matches in the past and I watched her match against Johansson...she has a lot of power on reserve, good hands, nice slice, quick as a rabbit, big serve/variety on serve-----not a great second serve, though reliable. Keeps unforced errors down.

I think her weaknesses are that she plays too defensively sometimes and her shot selection is suspect at times.

*But I consider someone to have a big game when they have multiple things they're good at, multiple weapons.

Lets go Sloan! Try to channel Venus and Serena in you babygirl! (I saw an interview where she mentioned that they inspired her) someone needs to carry the torch now. Stosur will be tough, but this is the time to prove yourself as a top contender. ALL EYES ARE ON YOU ...lets go! Good luck...

I thought it was because practically all of Serena fans don't like Sam, so you root for her opponent kind of thing hence the Serena fan part instead of Williams Sisters fans.

Anyways, Sam will win easily sadly.

Today is shaping up to be an upset day, Stephens has a chance if she can weather the storm on Sam's usual brisk start on clay.
If Stephens can frustrate her, Sam will get rattle and anything can happen

Exactly. I don't think Sloane can win this, but more than anything I want to see some fight in her and none of that mopey, slumped shoulders listlessness. :o
