Slava played at her best in this match. :hearts: :worship:

I'm really happy as a big fan of her. I didn't think she will play at this level this year but I'm very glad that she proved me wrong.

Sofia.

Wow, great display be Shvedova. She won half her points on winners and the other half on forced errors by Arvidsson. Absolutely dominating and almost flawless in the second set. If she plays like that, she can go deep ...

that was stunning from Yari :cheer: she absolutely dominated the play :hearts:

Arvidsson has no weapons, at least not for clay, Yari did whatever she wanted on the court, Arvidsson just returned the ball and didn't really move well.

Stunning performance from Yari today. Relentless hitting with depth and power exposing Sofia's lack of defense.

She plays Carla now, should be way more interesting, since Carla can move way better than Sofia.

Sofia
Yari :yeah: she had already done this a few years before, qualifying for the FO MD and then beating some high ranked players - Kanepi, back then. That had restarted her career as a whole, let's hope for the same effect this time round. :yeah:

Yari really overpowered Arvidson. I'm always impressed when I see her; she's such a stunning athletic specimen. I'm sure she would excel in tracks.

I was unfortunately busy while this match was on and couldn't watch it but reading the comments of those who did see this match fills my little heart with joy. Absolutely delightful. Tennis is such a funny sport. Just when you think a player's slump could be terminal this can happen.

Slava's results this tournament are a wonderful example of why one should never say never, and never assume a player who is struggling won't bounce back quite emphatically one fine day when you least expect it. Slava sure has made this RG something quite spectacular.

The comeback story of the tournament for absolute certain. :inlove:

Always been a big fan of Shvedova, great athlete and all really aggresive if she stays injury free for the next two/three years she will be a shoe in for the top 20.

Wow! :worship: I was watching my fave Kata Srebotnik's mixed doubles match and thought I could still see some of this one after the mixed, but it was all over by then. I saw Slava's first round match, though, and was very impressed with the way she was playing. So glad to see her getting wins in singles again -and such wins!

I wouldn't be upset if Slava won RG.

I honestly wouldn't be completely surprised either. When she's playing well, she's easily a top 15 level caliber player.

And with that said, if Schiavone could do it....

The problem is Slava will probably play Li in R4, which has a similar gamestyle, but better than her. I think Slava doesn't have the required defensive game to beat Li on clay.

But first, let's hope she wins against Carla.
