JJ led 5-2 first set and 4-1 second set, got broken while *4-4 in the 3rd

typical match, idk why i bother to go through this

JJ's FH is hideous, it used to be a great redirecter but now it just sprays UE, ridiculous shank on a 60 mph second serve to bring up match point

she also cannot put away short balls anymore

sad times for JJ fans

JJ struggled against Mayr-Achleitner...Led 5-2 first set....Just beyond pathetic...A shadow of herself is even giving too much credit these days...Thought Varvara would not capitalize or choke...She really seems to be in form this year...Fighting like a true bitch for that last Olympic spot...Retirement is beckoning for jJ...She is a permanent walking bye...Mayr-Achleitner should have downed her in R1 and saved Varvara some energy...But good tough win moving forward for the American...Alot of grit and fighting spirit to come back in that first set...

Oh dear.

What I find really odd is that Jelena is young - younger than many of the other players. And she's only been around properly since about 05. Yet it feels as if she's old and has been around forever. I don't know why but it seems like only yesterday Capriati was playing but forever since Jelena first came to prominence.

Anyway, she's looking unhappy and has done for a long time so she has to do something to sort this.

Having said that she's still making nearly $1m per annum plus endorsements so she may now just be in it for the loot.

Please, Tashkent is the new shopping mecca. It's the only place where she will still receive an appearance fee. They will even make a retirement ceremony for her in the R2(of course, she will get bye in R1) in front of 9 people. Afterwards, Rezai will give her a lift in her caravan to Ulan Bator where she will trace her ancestors' roots and finally find her peace.

But seriously, this woman is done.

The most shocking thing about Jankovic finally is the people who consistently support her and almost with the same consistency act all the time surprised that she's scrubbing and just trolling the WTA. At least that deserves a certain form of recognition --

If these people retired probably Janko will call it a quit too -- but she must be feeling all the support, encouragement and cheering to do worst and worst and keep mupping the tour with her uselessness. Which leads to the conclusion that she's just a puppet of the muppeteers trying to properly execute a vile conspiration against the WTA tour, a shame.

Terrible. I actually had the horror of sitting through this catastrophe.

I mean, she played well to get the 5-2 lead and the seemed to apparently forget how to play tennis. I mean she fought hard in the second set which was nice. Then played a shockingly awful pair of games towards the end. Sigh, terrible to watch to be honest. She's just really bad these days.

Take a break Jelena. You're so much better than this.

Why do fans always suggest players "take a break" when they are slumping? Most players are not Kim Clijsters, who can take a mummy break and come back and win Slams. There's a reason why players talk about needing regular match play.

Besides, they are already taking a break since they lose early.

Just look at Ana. She's steadily coming back from her serious slump a few years ago. Did those embarrassing losses stop her playing? She did the opposite - trained harder, lost weight, played more.

I agree. Taking a break is not a solution. Since you mentioned Ana, she did take some breaks, it was in the second part of 2009 and the first part of 2010. As a result, she was ranked #65 after Wimbledon.

I feel sad for Jelena these days... I miss her playing well (even if I always loved that she was great against so many players but really struggled with Chakvetadze) and it's kinda depressing to see her results going this way. Depresses me almost as much as watching Kuznetsova tank to a variety of mugs...

What most people who post in GM dont realize is how hard a job this is.
They think you just walk in and you're top 3, or else you're a bum.
Its extremely difficult to do this at a high level consistently.
And especially when you try to change your game to improve it. A player has to be very careful they dont take away their own best hitting zone. I think Jelena tried to change and left what she did best. I think Wozniacki is doing that now.

If I was Jelena I would watch tapes of Moscow 2008. Where she stood at contact, where she hit. How high over the net. What pace & placement.
Try to get back to doing what she was so successful at

The most shocking thing about Jankovic finally is the people who consistently support her and almost with the same consistency act all the time surprised that she's scrubbing and just trolling the WTA. At least that deserves a certain form of recognition --

If these people retired probably Janko will call it a quit too -- but she must be feeling all the support, encouragement and cheering to do worst and worst and keep mupping the tour with her uselessness. Which leads to the conclusion that she's just a puppet of the muppeteers trying to properly execute a vile conspiration against the WTA tour, a shame.

Mupping. This is an excellent addition to my vocabulary. Thankyou :worship:

At least a Schivone/Jankovic grudge drubbing would have been entertaining

Jelena only has R1 at Wimbledon :cheer:

There is still hope :sobbing:

:hearts: Yes they are going shopping with Oracene but I thought Jelena would go out in two to not keep BFF waiting :cheer:

:inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

Maybe Oracene was still sleeping at 4pm and Empress was just burning time on court til BFF woke her up :oh:

Oh well, Lepchenko was just too good. The Olympic gold is hers. But Jelena might snatch a bronze if she gets Mayr in that match.
