I can't believe bookies had Sabine as a favorite. Everything in this match - the result, the scoreline, the game itself - was super predictable.

Clueless. The bookies' job is to make money and that is to have equal bets on each side. If Sands was the favorite, then all the money would have been bet on Lisicki and if she had won, they would have lost their shirts.

It was not predictable. You are using 20 20 hindsight. Nothing Queen Bethanie had done this year suggested that was a "predictable" result.

Lisicki is horrifically bad right now....Losing to a player outside the Top 100 who has had a horrible year with injuries herself and plummeted down the rankings....Get ready Sabine bandwagonners, you are about to take a huge plummet yourself in about a month....Can't wait to see Lisicki fall into the abyss and back to ITF's where she belongs...The crazies who hyped her should be embarrassed and ashamed...Lisicki had a fluke run and this year proves it, despite her alleged injuries, no one can lose this badly to these kinds of players all year and be considered a threat...Lisicki is a walking bye at Wimbledon and coupled with all the added pressure to defend those points and prove herself, I foresee an epic meltdown of colossal proportions...Gotta get my DVR ready for this shit...LMAO

Half the fault was on the racquet, the other half was in Sabines head.

Whenever she was level or in front, she chokes. I'm sorry Sabine but even your smiles cant save you from being wiped from my siggie.

I cant with her anymore. Shes a mental headcase. It's just too much to bear. As a gay guy, I love strong women and Sabine is just too mentally fragile.

Well I am a curse for players. Sorana and Sabine. Lleyton Hewitt. All excelled in suckery today. Especially Bine.

As much as I love her, I can tell she has no gameplan and no confidence. We can recommend she get a new coach and new approach to her game or we can just wait patiently for her find confidence and a win.

Blown off the court by Bethanie Mattek Sands :bigcry:

Seriously what the hell do you guys say is bad tennis? Beth's W/UE ratio was -1!!!!! She hit 20 winners and 21 UE. Good God. Both of her forehand and her backhand were penetrating through the court from what I saw and she hit some very impressive winners. Obviously when girls are hitting this hard, errors are going to come from it as well. And Sabine was even 16/19!

Finally a posting herein by someone who understands a bookmaker’s perspective in setting up odds. The only time bookmakers are wrong and possibly lose money occurs the rare time when they have to change the odds during the betting period. One such time I recall was in American Football’s Super Bowl in 1998. The Green Bay Packers were defending champion against Denver and thus the bookies initially installed Green Bay as Ten pt favorites. Completely guessing wrong the amount of sentiment there was for Denver; thus by game time the odds were adjusted to Green Bay being only a One pt favorite.

I think your right. Normally I look at her struggling and crying and my reaction would be lots of hugs, because I'm often blinded by her sweetness her  but she can't be a happy-go lucky Miss Sunshine all the time, especially on the court. She needs to toughen up in some ways. Whether she has it in her not, to snap out of this slump or just free fall down the rankings I can't tell.

Sabine....she needs a psychologist, or she needs her Wimbledon points to come completely off. She only does well when she is a "rising" star. When she "arrives" at whatever, this year the top 20, she falls apart either physically or mentally.

Good for Bethanie, but it's not hard to beat someone who just can't rally and needs confidence. I think her game is fantastic and has huge potential, but she needs to be able to at least rally at a basic level to stand any chance of righting her ship. Look at Ana...look at how she continues to try and find new things to recapture her best form. Look at how it's at least changed her from losing every five seconds to being a consistent player. Sabine, if she really wants to improve, she needs to be looking for how she can solve her own problems. If you aren't trying to improve in the sport, then you're only falling behind.

On the other hand, props to the American women. They have been putting in their dues on various levels of tours and want success, and they're being rewarded this French Open. I can't remember the last time more Americans advanced to the second round of a major. I'm really hoping that, in addition to Serena doing big things, Christina, Sloane or Bethanie, Varvara and Vania doing something nice here. That would really be appropriate and give American women's tennis more hope (and hopefully decent coverage at the next slam).

Im a fan of Sabine and this loss is certainly most disheartening. What I found most astonishing about this match was the complete lack of confidence she displayed in her demeanor. Sabine is capable of completely eating up a player of the caliber of Bethanie, but to find her unsure of herself was totally puzzling. Sabine, though, has a history of doing well on grass and so hopefully she can turn it around soon with the warm-up tournament and Wimbledon coming up.

Take into consideration that she is another Pironkova?

The biggest tournament she won is Charleston.

Not everybody that suggests she needs to get a professional tennis coach, see a sports psychologist and toughen up in general hates her. Its just getting boring after 7-8 months of no improvement in her game, the same mental breakdowns and excuses over and over again.

We'll see what the haters have to say when Bine's fitness training starts to kick in and she finds some form again. It's just a matter of time because we know these recent losses aren't the real her and I'm sick of people trashing her personality too. A sweeter tennis player there isn't.
